What and where would you buy?

Engine is for a non-racing kart, some off road mostly asphalt though. Speed is end goal. Right now the motor is bone stock except governor removed and kill switch added.

For $125 Only thing you could do is billet flywheel and 18lb? valve springs and even then you should have a billet rod. Really the best bang for your buck would be to sell the predator and buy a 110cc or up bike engine. If you don't need to use a clone then you can get more power cheaper from a different engine.

Depends on where ARCA race schedule is
Without the 100 billet flywheel, you could get a cam (20$) 18#valve springs (15$) air intake with adapter (30$) and a Billet rod(60). With a little welding skills, you can make your own exhaust and either redrill the jet (carefully) or get a new jet set for like 10 bucks. And if you don't plan on raping it all the time, remove the governor and just be cautios because with the heavier valve springs, and the governor removed, you would be every bit capable of having flywheel trouble. But thats one way to go. Atleast you still using the engine you WANT to use..

A bike engine requires fab work to get it mounted and all sorted out right? I'm using a Murray yard kart so I didn't think this would be a possibility. I would love to have a shifter kart, but alas...I cannot weld or machine parts.

I could be careful with it, but hey where's the fun in that? Seriously, though I thought a cam would only be useful above 5500rpm or so. And going that high I would have to get a con rod and flywheel.

If you have a drill, vise and a BFH you can make your own engine mounts for the bike engine, make them bolt on.

You should be able to find a low speed cam if you want, its just that most are made to make more power at higher rpms instead of lower rpms since most people doing cams have already done the necessary upgrades to spin it faster.

Sorry exe, I'm with falcon on this one; a billet flywheel & heavy valve springs are only useful over 5000rpm, there are many other cheaper mods that will be more useful at lower rpm.

Start with hi flow intake & exhaust.

The effective range of a cam depends on the profile. Some cams only work at high rpm but, there are cams that only work up to 5000rpm, meaning, you get a lot more bottom end torque; for example... Unfortunately, that particular item is only available in Australia but, I'm sure, if you look, you can find one locally

Not entirely true, many box stock classes require the governor to still be intact and there are still cams that are for those classes. And you are going to have to pay for something you can abuse the hell out of and not break it or get hurt. Good fun doesn't come cheap unfortunately.

I still care for the motor. I don't abuse it just use it.

So on the list is air intake and exhaust.

My thought was that he could raise the gearing and still keep the top speed while gaining acceleration or do the opposite and gain speed whit the same acceleration.

Hence the "most".

Will BSP header pipes work on a Predator?

ETA:http://www.nrracing.com/product-p/dyno-cl1-112.htm Found this cam. Is this cam designed for 6000rpm and above or 6000rpm max?

a BSP pipe will work on the predator, my buddy put one on his, you may halft to drill the mounting hole just a bit bigger though which is no biggy. also i have a 212 predator with a dyno mod 2 cam in it, the dyno cam is similar to the cl1 cam in that it has the same amount of lift with just a little more duration, my motor hits above 6000 rpm no problem but i also have other significant modifications, but from the sounds of it your going to modify yours so if u do the cl1 cam should be just fine for you.

P.S. nrracing is a great site for predator mods(little pricey though), or try jacks small engines.
