11hp battery

I just put a 11hp clone on my kart that has electric start.
Im wondering what battery to use, i have a lawnmower battery but, its a little large to mount anywhere.

Would one of these be able to start the clone?

what are you guys using for batteries?

i dont think either of those are enough. maybe there is an amperage rating for the starter in the manual.

sealed lead acid batteries are generally not used for engine starters, because starters are only used for a very short time and draw a crapload of power. the wet cell batteries like ones in cars are for starter motors because they can supply the massive demand for power. sealed lead acid batteries are used in things like electric scooters, because the motor doesnt need a ton of power, but it has to last 10 minutes straight at least.

I agree with blue's ^^^ first sentence, but the fact that a lead-acid battery happens to be a sealed or non-sealed design doesn't alter if its more/less appropriate for starting or deep-cycle type use. Some batteries are indeed designed, labeled and marketed for use in Deep Cycle applications, but I'm not seeing any info claiming that's the case in the 2 Norther Batteries you linked above. So Blue is wrong here...

Your 11hp engine needs a 12 volt battery with a minimum of an 18/AH (amp-hour) rating.

Yea that battery is 5 amps and my lawn mower battery has 400amps to crank a 10hp motor. That battery may give 1 crank

that type is battery you are pointing to on northern is a battery backup for an alarm system. the one with 5amps

What about one of those pocket sized lithium motorcycle batteries? They are like the size of a deck of cards.

or got to wal-mart and grap a 19$ lawnmower battery.
