110cc kart, electric shift?

So I recently bought a 110cc go kart at a very low price. It had to be wired up but starts and runs. The oil looks milky after determining that the motor runs so it will need to be changed a couple times. So at this point, after performing all maintenance required after this kart's extended vacation, I have to figure out how to make it shift. I can't find shifter linkage anywhere. The are two buttons on the steering wheel though, of course their wires are cut the same as all the wires on this kart were. Does that mean this motor has electric shift? Does that even exist? The wires coming from the motor seem to be used up with the 5 pin CDI and 4 pin regulator. Would welcome any input or ideas as I'm very excited to get this kart rolling.

The engine might be an automatic. In other words, hit the gas and it goes. No CVT, just a centrifugal clutch inside the case. Many of the 110 clone ATV's are that way.

If the oil is looking milky you might have a bigger problem than you think. Water getting into the oil does this often. Hopefull you got water in there through the oil fill hole and not some other way

So in that case probably no reverse. Yeah I'm really wondering about the oil. The engine looks new so it seems like I would notice any cracks. The filler cap is tight. Condensation?

I'm thinking maybe was it stored outside, also most 110 cc engines are based off the honda engines of the 70's so its automatic unless there is a cable off the one side coming off the top of the engine near the rear then its most definitely automatic. As for the wires on the steering wheel I bet you someone used a wheel from a computer wheel and peddles control I've done the same thing as small wheels cost alot.

What I would do is change the oil like you said and see if it happens again

I've seen more semi-auto and manual 110cc's than autos to be honest, either way I highly doubt its electric shift

True the cable coming from the rear right side of engine would tell you if its manual this being the shift cable almost every 110 cc engine is based off the 70's Honda which was sold to China in the 80's. If it was electronic shift you would see 2 wires coming out from almost the pulley. I guess he'll just have to post a picture of the engine to end the debate once and for all.

If you can take pics from the left and right side of the engine clearly that would solve all questions I think. And I agree change the oil first had it happen before on condensation on a honda 50. And it being a 110 guys it probably doesn't even have a radiator. I have not seen any that I know of that small with one.

I guess I'm just used to manual or semi auto. I uploaded some pics of it. I will also have to replace the electric components because, as you may notice, the harnesses are all dry rotted and brittle. I wish there was a way to just replace the plastic boots instead. I'm shocked that it started and ran so easily after apparently sitting dormant so long. But over all I'd say its not bad for $75.

ok i managed to upload some pics in an album. I've flushed the motor and rigged the throttle and managed to run the motor. Only one gear. It looks like it would have some kind of transmission not just a simple centrifugal clutch. I am hoping someone knows or has a great idea about it please.

That is CHina produced, it has an auto trans. With a 420, 13 t drive sproket. Google 152 FMH gas engine, all kinds of info.

OK. I spent some time on google researching those numbers. But thats just the model number for the motor. The same model # showed varying transmissions. When running that motor, i noticed it did not shift on it's own and there is no shifter lever on the motor. Is it possible that this motor only has 1 gear? That would suck..., if so i will probably be installing a 200cc 5speed that i have on this kart.

Weird, it has a clutch cable holder but isn't manual haha. It's definitely geared, if it wasn't the whole right side of the engine would be redundant.

It's possible it's auto and the gearbox is stuffed?

I think you have an automatic 3-5 speed only thing you can do is run it to top speed and listen for it to shift. You would see a cable hole for the clutch on the right side towards the rear if it was clutched. Otherwise its automatic.
