Finally got started, bought a 160 Amp Arc Welder ... man what a ***** to learn how to do it, the welds are not exactly clean, but they are strong!
The wheels are temporary.
Still have to add some reinforcements, but this is the general idea for the frame.
Now waiting till I have enough money to buy torque converter, chain, axle, sprockets, foot pedals, steering components, etc. LONG way to go!
It will be a long time till I can

As you can see, it is kind of wide, that's because I'm still not sure if I am going to go single or two-seater!

You should go single seat if you want to go really fast but double seat if you want to ride around with friends or anything like that...

how are you going to transfer the power from the engine to the rear wheels , i see that you mounted the wheels to the frame directly

one wheel drive. Like an open diff. In other words " not as fun"
but ultimately better for your kart and tires if you mostly ride on non-skid surfaces.

He said the wheels are temporary while he waits for the axle in his first post...with that engine and the weight of that cart he could just slide the corners.

Thanks Kaptain. Yeah, I want to put a live axle on it, I just wanted to temporarily mount the wheels to see the height, etc. It looks like I am going to need new rims and tires anyway, as the ones I have are welded onto the axle. Unless someone has a good idea how to get them off the axle. They are the size I woudl like

The Tecumseh 10hp engine came from a snowblower. The way the engine is configured (i guess) is to run at ideal rpm's for operation of the snowblower. How do you remove that, so you can actually control the throttle? Is it pretty easy or not? Is there a step-by-step process available somewhere, with pics preferably?

Also, every time you run high rpm's and then turn back the throttle, or turn of the engine, there is a loud "BANG". What causes that?
If I want to install an exhaust, what do I attach it to?
I know ..... what have I gotten myself into often comes up in my mind too!!!

you should be able to just control the butterfly valve which would bypass any problems.

post some pictures of the engine i cant really see much of it in the ones you posted before

Thats just backfiring, its ok. Some engines just backfire or they backfire because there running to rich and theres to much fuel going in and it goes bang. Screw ur mixture screw in a lil bit like 1/4 turn then test it, if it still does it screw it in another 1/4 turn. If its still backfiring or running like crap after 1 turn or half a turn turn it back to its normal setting.

Update on my Kart

Put some additions on the fram, hopefully for strength and hopefully for a little bit of safety too ...... as this is my first build, I am just guessing away!

Bang/pop on decel is fuel building up and lighting in the hot muffler.
