Does anyone know much about or use a 10hp briggs on their karts? Just wandered if that was a good engine to use because I am going to be picking one up this weekend. Are there very manyh performance mods for them?

I have a 8 hp somewhat like a 10 hp. And I installed a header, motorcyle carb and advanced the timing. Seem to have lots of power.

in stock form its going to have alot of low end grunt, but not to much up top, not to mention they wiegh a ton. But if your looking for an engine to get you up hills it will for sure do that. But if you want to go fast get yourself a HF Clone. Hope this helps!

that makes no sense, all 4 strokes are pretty torquey, a 10 hp is going to have almost twice as much power as a hf clone, and will get you to your top speed faster than the clone. do you have any proof that a 10hp will have no top end compared to a 6.5? 4 strokes have a pretty even torque band and will generally have good torque all the way up to redline. All of these industrial engines are governed at 3600rpms, and a 10hp will get you going much faster than a clone. They dont weigh all that much more than a clone and overall will be much better.

I see your point Kaptain. What does he mean by an HF Clone though? Sorry but im new to the karting lingo. But I have heard alot of talk about clone engines. All that is, is a cheap knock off version of the brand name right?m Thanks.
