so ive got a 12 hp Kohler and im gonna put this 1" comet on it. Ive read where a few people have had bad luck with this clutch. How many people are running this clutch with good luck?

I know I would be better with a CTV but i dont want to spend 200 on this thing right now.

so what does everyone think? will this clutch last at least a few months?

BMI has em for 50 bucks.

From all reports most of the economy 1" clutches are only rated for up to 8 hp, but will actualy hold up to 10 to 13 HP motors fairly well as long as your not geared for to much top speed, trying to use them for climbing/off road situations or your kart/rider combonation is extra heavy. But with lighter weight loads, around a 6 to 1 gear ratio and running the kart mostly on flat ground, that Comet will probably hold up prety good for awhile.

Most of these bigger motors develop masive torque and your clutches lifespan will prety much depend on how much time it spends slipping while your getting up to speed. I've got a couple big 4-stroke race motors that require 1" clutches. My Comet 1" works but its built like a little toy compaired to my 1" Noram Star race clutches. (but they're also like 3x the cost of that Comet)

Looks like you'd be topping out at 29 mph at 3600rpm. I'd need your rear tires circumference to calculate the overall gear ratio but I'd think you'll be fine with that setup.
