i built a off road rig and plan on making it a shifter kart with an atv engine but for now i have a 16hp clone engine that i am trying to use. its a 1" bore. my problem is the kart is about 300LBs without the rider. i weigh 200. the engine im sure is strong enough but the clutch i got wasnt. i should have researched that more before i bought it but thats life. does anyone know of a clutch that is strong enough for 500+ LBs. thank you guys

No might about it.... That's a lot of weight. A cc just won't do..... Get a real COMET 40series tc...... You will be grinning all day and your buddies will be jealous......

If you are going to be paying 300+ for a torque converter maybe you should just save up a bit more and get the atv engine.

Well, he said he was gonna eventually put an atv engine..... ? Ive seen some HEAVY DUTY cc's that hold up to 40hp, with 1" bores, but they start at like $180....

You should try and get one of those little 4cylinder engines the army uses to power generators and stuff. Do you know the ones I'm talking about?

Another thing to consider is gearing; if the drive ratio is too high, it doesn't matter what clutch you use, it still won't work; can you provide a tooth count of your clutch & axle sprocket?

Man,....... Forgot the obvious..... Yes we need to know your current gear ratio before any real advice can be given.....
