1/8 mile drag racing....gearing

Never raced (on a drag strip), goin to LAKELAND,FL on OCT.23rd and give it a try! There will be a bunch of mini bike's racing. My question is what gear ratio to use?? weight 400(rider/kart total),15" tires,tav2,8200 rpm.

Will your engine actually rev to 8200 riding your kart with a tav-2 now?

Whats drive/axle-sprocket counts do you have on it now?

What engine and engine mods are you running?

#1 YES 8200 RPM/ NOT ON KART NOW #2 Thinking of goin with TAV2/30 12T 41CHAIN W/40T DRIVE/REAR SPROCKET #3 STROKER ANIMAL(Billet rod,je piston,jb roller rockers,wf carb)trick head,,,ect, What would you recommend for gearing???

I know this motor might tear up some belts(takin 6 spare's) runnin a tav2/30......I have a 44c/7 1/2 driven...but don't have enuff time to change it over at this time......guess we'll see how tuff a tav 2/30 really is!!!

I came up with 110mph at 8200rpm using those gears... But if you went with a 75 tooth axle sprocket instead, it calculated out to a more realistic goal of 60mph:http://www.compgoparts.com/TechnicalResources/JackshaftRatioCalculator.asp

Sounds like you'll have a 20+hp engine there, I think you'll be needing a 40/44-series converter.
