a tool is only as good as the guy using it. for 1/4" stuff i have a case of craftsman sockets with a 1/4" screwdriver. the screwdriver can accept a ratchet in the back of the handle so that makes it nice. but i use a s-k ratchet because you know how the crapsmans ones are. theres random snap-on sockets in there. whatever i come across at swap meets. but it gets the job done.

Canadian tire( Now as you guessed it...Crappy tire) use to(sorta still does now) have good warranties on there mastercraft brand tools. They were decent tools to work with. They like everyone crapped out on production of the good stuff, have to pay a great deal more and get less.
Now they get into a big tuff about trying to return a wrench or ratchet, ect....."well it looks like it was used as a hammer, or a hammer on it" .... no man its like 20 years old it finally broke...

I heard it all from them, so sad. Even the higher-up people there don't appreciate what they sell.

I've actually had no problem with the warranty on the master craft tools. It may just be my Canadian tire but its been absolutely no questions asked replacement if I needed to get a tool replaced, even if evidence of "use outside of intended use" was visible.

I wanted to bump my thread, tool talk again... I forgot to mention..

A little while ago I went to the princess auto, and got on sale a 1/4" impact set.
A full Metric/Inch/short/long, with some extensions and swivels.
A pretty nice set, and a match for my 1/4 impact gun I had already.

Today, on the way home from my new job, across the street there was the snap-on guy at one of his usual rounds, I decided to get on of those new long 1/4" ratchets they had for sale, I had seen a while ago.
I have seen longer ratchets, but most were flex head, and wont use one of those again.
So finally after a bit of humming and hawing. I bought it.
They are pretty nice tools, and most of the guys are really nice to have you in to look and peruse their store(truck).
In any case Im pretty stoked about my 1/4" drive selection, I have always found them easier to work with on the smaller stuff and in a tight spot on the car.

It is 9" long, compared here to my 5" small gold regular 1/4" ratchet, and 6" extension.

Neat! Ive always been used to the 3/8" drive when it comes to sockets and ratchets. Some 1/2", little 3/4" and maybe one or two times with 1" drives, usually on automotives.

Dont think it ever crossed my mind with 1/4" impacts, i rarely use 1/4 drive on my stuff, only if u need something small or the hardware is to small (thats what she said!)

Nice set you have their anyways.
