    made in china

Speak for yourself. If you don't have anything better to do in your life then go on a friendly DIY Go kart site and make a huge thread about racism, then YOU can feel free to leave. I am just standing up for the respect Asians should get, not being a "smart ***". Even though there is an off...

    made in china

Sigh, yet you continue to do so. "CHINESE MADE CARS" That is grammatically incorrect. Its like saying ENGLISH MADE CARS, FRENCH MADE CARS, SPANISH MADE CARS, WHITE MADE CARS. You're using the definition of "Chinese" incorrect. In China their are people who speak a different language other then...

    made in china

Clearly, this thread is racist to begin with. Firstly, you're saying cars made in China are not safe for the United States. Other countries around the world that produce cars have unsafe vehicles as well. It's ridiculous how you just point out one country and say they produce the most unsafe...

To keep the tensioner bar disengaged or engaged Im just going to use the same concept of a bicycle kickstand. The spring is gonna be hard to move so ima make it like a pedal so i can operate it with my foot. At least that is what i intend to do...

Yea, i actually like the belt tensioner idea. It sounds like fun, makes the riding more interesting. The tires that i have to work with are pocket bike tires. Does anyone know how to figure out the right gear ratio with the 6:1 reduction?

Turns out the reduction unit it 6:1. Just need to find out the gear ratio to reverse it. Heres some pictures of the engine:

Yea im going to check it out tomorrow.

Oh sweet, thanks for the drawing. But my question is, if the spring is pulling up the tensioner how will i make it stay down (toggle) when i want to "engage clutch"?

ll definatly get some asap. I just keep forgetting to get pictures when i'm in the shop, i get carried away working on my bike frame.

How would i make a toggled belt tensioner?

Right now the gear reduction has a sheave on it's crank (don't know the size). So, if i go out & get the same size and put it onto the back tire. I won't lose any power? If the sheave on the reduction crank is large. Wouldn't i need a smaller sheave for the axle? So it would reverse the effect...

Not at the moment, its in the shop at my highschool

Uhhhhhh. I can't just add a belt onto the existing crankshaft or it would probably slip off (Im guessing). I'm afraid if i use the reduction unit with pulleys gear ratio etc... i won't be able to unleash all the power the little 3.5hp motor can give out. I think the most realistic approach...

Like a big sheave for the axle, and another big sheave for the tension pulley? I just want to be able to use as much power as possible.

    Thread on thread...

So basically, i put on a 3/4" sheave onto my splined shaft. Put a bigger sheave onto the wheel axle. Add a loose v-belt. Make a pulley system that can be tightened or loosened with a pedal (just like Motor_head said). Add throttle, couple of those expanding spring thingys (forgot the name) and...

But wouldn't that reduce the speed still if Im using the reduction box??

Thank you for the responses, i apprentice it. Ill look into the belt tensioner clutch since i have no idea what it is. I'm afraid it can't, got it off a kijiji guy and i highly doubt he would want his engine back.
