Yes there will be a build thread. And yes I understand ill have to build specific engine mounts. But I see it as, if I'm building a go kart from scratch, it shouldn't be much of an issue to build some engine mounts to fit. A stock xr100 does about 45mph. And I would probably just be using stock...

I know there's no such thing as a go kart motor. That's why I put it in quotation. Being sarcastic because everyone around here seems to call them that.

Yea I'm familiar with the motorcycle and dirt bike engines, just haven't had much experience with large "go kart" motors. So I'll most likely stick to the dirt bike engine for my build.

Being that I don't have much experience with larger horizontal shaft engines (13-18hp), I was wondering a few things. How would a 13hp predator engine or the like compare against a 4 stroke dirt bike engine such as a Honda xr100 or something similar. Wondering what the top speed and torque...

That motor is probably gonna throw off too much head to be comfortable sitting beside it. But worth a shot. If anything you could try to fab a heat shield if there's enough room

First just lay the engine in and make sure you can make it fit and line everything up. Then you will just have to take some measurements and fabricate some engine mounts.

Lol one day I'll build a bigger buggy with a sport bike motor. Funny you say cbr because I am a Honda guy.

I believe jack shaft is the correct term for what would be mounted there.

Yes the rear end on the dirt devil are almost like a four wheeler swing arm

So I think I will be going with 1.5" square tubing with a .083 wall as its easy to find locally. Would that work alright? And what size axle would be good for an off-road kart? Think a 1" should hold up? I'm not a big guy, only 160lbs
