212cc and 420cc exhaust with O2 sensor bungs for tuning.

The difference between 650hp and 715hp can all come down to tuning correctly. Moving the decimal a few spots makes it relevant to karts. We have a few 700+hp 2 liter cars here that get driven to work 6 days a week. There isn't a good reason to not apply those principals on small engines. Having...

    Yerf Dog Model 1423?

Thanks. I saw a few ways to fix the oversteer issue. The steering geometry needs help too and I can fab up some stuff. I'd really like to skip some R&D by seeing what others have done to remedy the factory issues on this kart.

212cc and 420cc exhaust with O2 sensor bungs for tuning.

Reading plugs tells you very, very little. It isn't going to tell you AFR or EGT at different throttle angles without lots of testing. Even then it's not exactly hard data, just a vague indicator of range. Running a boosted drag car without wideband is one thing, tuning that car well enough to...

212cc and 420cc exhaust with O2 sensor bungs for tuning.

Jfive I think you shined light on a problem that isn't just here, it's in lots of motorsport. Especially ones where we are trying to do things on the cheap. Innovation is not encouraged. Try reading up on forced induction here, or nitrous, or just about anything other than billet parts and a...

    Yerf Dog Model 1423?

On this model the steering "stops" are formed by the tires hitting the frame. The maximum allowed steering angle is obnoxious, close enough to 90 degrees that the tires could fold under the cart. Welding in stops for the pitman arm could fix that bit I've read lots of other suggestions here...

    Yerf Dog Model 1423?

Aesthetics are way down the priority list. Now that I have a better idea what model it is I've found out about the steering recall and lots of talk on how to fix it. What I have not seen at all is a picture of one fixed. I read the steering sticky and found videos of building spindles that take...

Newbie with a (gasp!) axle question...

While I don't have direct experience with drifting dead axle carts, I do drift cars and I can tell you that it will not be stable in both directions. If the unpowered wheel is on the inside of the corner it won't "push out"even with pvc sleeves. It may be one of those things you can get used to...

    Yerf Dog Model 1423?

So a close friend has had this go kart she bought from Costco years ago sitting in her shed collecting dust. Since I maintain/repair her cars and mowers she thought I would be able to get this thing going. Two summers ago I pulled it out of the shed, changed oil, put in fresh fuel, cleaned the...

    Hello from VA

Hello all, I've been researching things here for a few months and thought it was time to join up. I've always been into all things motorized and recently spent a year working in a machine shop to build up my fabrication skills. I would really like to thank everyone for all of the help you've...
