Engine bogs and shuts off on hill

The part that slides into seems to have no damage but there is some play with the pieces. Probably makes sense to buy a new driver if its only 20 bucks more.

Engine bogs and shuts off on hill

Took apart clutch and noticed what im going to call the splines on the shaft of the clutch seem disformed (see photo). Would i be able to just replace that part instead of the whole clutch or is it likely other parts have been damaged? http://imgur.com/a/2Iawg Thanks Isaac

Engine bogs and shuts off on hill

Yeah i just wasnt sure if the engine bogging and the clutch were related. I thought maybe if the engine cuts out under load the clutch gets stuck regardless of clutch health but i guess not. Thanks

Engine bogs and shuts off on hill

My engine has been bogging and shutting off on this one hill with just me in it. The kart used to go right up it with 2 people no problem. Nothing has changed with the engine. I think its the clutch because when the engine gets bogged down and shuts off, the clutch gets stuck. To free it i have...

Done with band brakes need alternative

I'm going to blame that one on auto correct? :lolgoku:I'm looking forward to this build will probably make a separate thread on it. The problem with my kart is that it's a yard kart being treated like a off road kart.rear suspension should relieve the back end and stop the pos from snapping. Isaac

Done with band brakes need alternative

Well I don't have the brake problem anymore because I'm afraid the whole back end of the kart broke (see photo). The amazing thing is that the welds didn't brake it , the pipe sheered! I am looking into cutting the back end off and installing a swing arm setup in the back which would give me...

Done with band brakes need alternative

Alright that looks pretty easy. I just need to get a metal rod, cut it to size weld it and drill a hole for the cotter pin. I hope my Flux welder is up to the task. Thanks everyone for the great information. Without this forum I'd be screwed! Isaac

Done with band brakes need alternative

So your saying weld on a metal rod in place of the carriage bolt? What would hold the band on the rod? That sounds a whole lot simpler than a disc brake conversion. Thanks Isaac

Done with band brakes need alternative

I have removed the band brake drum and it was stuck on tight so It took a lot of hammering. Its pretty destroyed so I would need a new one. I've never seen drums with keepers but I have seen bands with them but they wherent in the right size for my drum. The problem I always had with my old band...

Done with band brakes need alternative

I think 6 " OD will exceed the height of where I can mount my bracket. I guess I could weld a piece of metal to jack the bracket up to the right place but that seems like a good place for it to break. The kit you linked looks like the caliper has to be welded under something and hover over the...

Done with band brakes need alternative

I'm worried about it not fitting underneath the axle bracket where the drum break used to be (see circled area in photo). The brake was no where near the sprocket. I think it looked like that because of the way the photo was taken. Thanks for the tip on posting images! Im not sure whether that...

Done with band brakes need alternative

Been busy lately. I took the drum off the axle which took a lot of banging and pb blaster. Here's the photo of where the brake would go. https://s21.postimg.org/esh2b7sbr/20161110_150815.jpg Thanks Isaac

Done with band brakes need alternative

I have looked at kits for disc and drum breaks but could only find 6" drums/discs in 1" bore. 6" is to big. I would also have a problem mounting the caliper if I went with the disc option. Thanks Isaac

Done with band brakes need alternative

I've done this for the second time with my band brake setup (see photo). I have tried again and again and again to align it but it will never stay aligned. I think my kart is too heavy and fast for a 4" band brake and drum. Has anyone done a drum break conversion on there yerf dog 30033? I'm...

Yeah and this one has a lot of weld and is reinforced so it would be a real pain to grind it off.

    Band brake issues

I was able to bend it back where it needs to be with the vise grips took a lot of bending to get it just right. It did not work at first because I still had the axle connected to the bracket. I un bolted the axle and was then able to bend it. Thanks Isaac

    Band brake issues

All right I'll try that but im not sure it will work because it's a bit more than a bend it's alms like a bump. Thanks

    Band brake issues

Hi The bracket that connects the axle to the go kart and holds the band brake bent slightly where the bolt that holds one end of the band goes. This causes the bolt to angle down wards. (See photos). This also causes the band to not align properly with the drum. The band aligns so badly that it...
