"Springer" frontend... needing any info on em. Do's n dont's for design...

Gorgeous bike. Makes me wanna build one now. Putting pedals on the front wheel there would make it a legal motorized bike in CA. But then I start thinking I wanna do a bike with a sidecar so I can lug my dad around in it, cause he refuses to ride any of my creations. Most people will tell you...

    Brakes On A Jack Shaft?

To go the disc brake route, the method I've found is to get a 6-bolt adapter to put a disc on a flipped threaded bicycle hub, then put that adapter on a freewheel to 5/8" shaft adapter from staton-inc, one of which I have on my bike. The ID of their machined aluminum adapters is a little tight...

    Brakes On A Jack Shaft?

I would do research on minibike band brakes. I wanted to put one on my JS but realized I don't have the space with my current setup, not to mention all the brake kits are for 7/8" or 1" jackshafts (mine is 5/8"). I will eventually go with a small maybe 4" disc brake and mechanical caliper.

    lack of speed

Make sure your TC is preloaded correctly. Read: it should be a HUGE PITA to change positions on the driven spring. If it was an "easy" task it means you are doing it wrong. Oops looks like you got it. You can change your gear ratio lower by switching to the 7" driven. Also, you can probably...

    gear ratio with torque converter

And for chain size, go with the 41; most popular size for stuff like this. Also easy to calculate sprocket size, as each tooth is a half inch long. So your 60t sprocket is probably just under 10" diameter.

    gear ratio with torque converter

I have around 4hp and I run 8.02:1 on my bike with 26" tires, and will take me to just over 45mph at almost 5krpm. That's the equivalent of a 4.9 for your tires. Also the TC will rob some power and limit your rpms to the shift rpm; for a 30 series that is 3300rpm stock but can be modified by...

Are briggs flywheel tapers all the same under 5hp?

I have a tired 3.5hp briggs 91200 with a crank that ends at the flywheel threads. There is a shortblock I'm looking to buy but being a newer one there is a shaft that extends beyond the flywheel threads. Is the taper the same though? Can I just cut that extension off at the threads and mount the...

    Bike addict new here

Hello, longtime occasional lurker here. Not my scene (yet!) but have much interest in engines and transmissions for use on motorized bikes. Built a bike with B&S 3.5hp and currently using a single speed that takes me to 46mph. Have had it up to 55 with other gearing. Have messed with comet CVT...
