Well we came in 10th. The track was a muddy one this year:devil2: We had a front wheel problem due to a kingpin bolt coming loose. Then a few laps later the wheel came off because the bearings were damaged. The team next to us was nice enough to lend us a wheel and tire  which we...

Tomorrow is build day!:wai: We are basically copying our rig from last year, so the build should go a lot quicker. The wheels are NOT going to fall off this year, so we may have a shot at it. I also took almost all the play out of the steering. Last year the drivers were complaining...

Oh My Gwhat have I done?!

KartFab covered pretty much everything. Good advice! One thing I would add on a safety note is to NEVER, EVER use chlorinated brake cleaner to clean something you are going to weld. Even minute traces of it when heated will give off phosgene gas which, when inhaled will do permanent, severe...

Frustration! No one makes a sprocket that can be engaged and disengaged?

My BobCat Snowblower has this type of 2 speed transmission in it. The same mechanism is used for forward-reverse.

Adjustable work table I guess this counts as a tool? I was getting tired of bending over to work on stuff so I rigged this up in my garage. The platform is 24"x36" and easily remove-able. It could support an entire kart. All connections have 5/8 jam bolts to keep things from wiggling. I used a...

Swivel Vise Mount Here is a swivel vise that I mounted on a 2" receiver hitch that is welded to my woodstove which is bolted to the floor. I can clamp anything that I want to cut or weld at any angle. I can also take the vise out and mount it on any receiver hitch. We actually used it quite a...

Heavy Duty Caulking Guns Here are a couple of caulking guns I made. The single one I made to push heavy automotive seam sealer and windshield adhesive out of. Most caulking guns will not push that thick crap out, this one does it with almost no effort! The dual one has the handle threaded and...

    Harbor Freight motors

Eastwood makes a hobby powder-coating gun as well as others. search it on e-bay. You can bake the parts in an ordinary oven, but don't use the wife's, as you cannot cook in it afterwards.

A lot of thought went into that design. I like how when he pulls down on the handlebars, the motor slides forward to tighten the drivebelt.

    My Evil Twin

My favorite tool for cutting and notching tube is a 5" angle grinder with .045 thick flat cut-off discs. Cuts can be extremely accurate. Remember to always wear gloves and safety glasses, or better yet, a face shield.
