    Manco Silver Fox

Yea I got a silver fox its a great machine goes over a surprising amount of obstacles. The 6.5 has pretty good kick. I bought mine for $375 so your right about there on the price. I have had mine in places I wouldn't take a jeep up in vt. Is that a mirror? ---------- Post added at 02:14 PM...

Thanks, do you have a pic of exactly what you did?

    Belt Confusion

Right but the new one is not the right belt because the clutch wants to engage as soon as you pull the starter. The kart wants to move when you pull it Maybe because the wider belt cannot sink as far down into the groove causing the ratio to be higher and higher rpm so it engages? Has anyone...

    Belt Confusion

So i got this manco silver fox thing and the belt broke The original belt is 5/8" wide, do these things wear that much over time in terms of width? The new one I ordered is 3/4" wide. I ordered it because it said 5959 in the item description, I was naive of the different widths and thought if...

Cant decide on a power train

Cant decide on a power train

Axles reach barely, diff mounts being created now Does anyone see how else I could power this? Just wondering if a single speed could be done on this scale with an engine?

Cant decide on a power train

Another update, the front suspension is done as well as the rear, now to mount the diff. Figured out how to attach the vw axles to the bmw diff, I had a machine shop bore the flanges from 5/16 to 3/8 and they fit perfect now shock clears axle

Cant decide on a power train

wow its been a while, guess i'll dig up my thread the car thing has been moved to my shop so work space is much tighter the rear axle has been built and shocks are on the way, very close to being a roller. definitely will not be using such wide tires in back only this pic for now, more to come

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

Thats a good idea, but I'm not looking to spend the kind of money that would go into it, and if there was a motor on each axle, how would I get it to pivot? Weld a bracket above the motor and spur? Found this 4 way gearbox, but they look heavy and expensive...

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

Lets call it a crawler then, even so I realize that much travel will never be used, but yes probably coil overs will be the choice. the real question now is what kind of gearbox would work for this ? It has to have four shafts because I think the axle would need two pivot points on the DS to...

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

forgot articulation shot, see the huge camber changes. I think the only thing preventing this amount of articulation is shock travel, not sure what kind of shocks can do this, Fox air?

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

Well more thought has gone into this kart with the arrival of the silver fox . Starting to drift from the one link/panhard bar idea because of unneeded complexity and weight, besides sourcing expandable u joints or cvs at this scale is difficult and the ones I can find are expensive. So the new...

    Yerf Dog 3200 renovation

looks good to me, way better than any of my past "paint jobs" I see what you mean about the glare, but I'm sure its worse in person while spraying when the paint is more reflective. Still, for flying blind, i think it turned out great

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

Well, um the "4x4" thing just got interesting Think i'll beat this thing up for a while, break something then convert to 4x4. The plan is still to create solid axles with either the worms or RAGBs and do a two link, just the whole project is now "where am I going to mount this?" rather than...

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

Yes that is always an option, which 1st generation machine are you referring to? If the kart lacked suspension, i am somewhat sure that it wont be able to negotiate the obstacles I need/want it to. I guess with my builds nothing can be normal. Any thoughts on the axle plan?

    Planning/Imminent build of 4x4 kart

I find it hard to draw this so I'll try to explain... I think what I want to do is start with the original output shafts on the worm gearboxes (3/4" OD) and put a 1" sleeve over it and weld it , then this sleeve will turn inside the axle housing (prob 1.25" OD) This 1" sleeve will be keyed at...

Thank you, I forgot to mention when I say "shocks" I mean coilovers, or shock and spring combo, etc Point is, I'm pretty sure a 2 link is the way to go
