    Rizzy's rebuild

Good luck with your build. It doesn't have to take a bunch of money to build one of these things. I've got little in our build. You learn to ask a bunch of questions. Our hunk of junk started out with everything rusted in place. It took a cut off wheel on a dremel tool and a lot of...

    70's Johnson Kart grave save

I had right much luck with WD40 and PB Blaster together. Spray both on let soak for days. Do this a couple times. I also see a nut on the axle that looks to me needs to come off before the hub comes off too. I'm sure you've taken the nut off already. Rusty stuff just takes patience. I...

Thanks I got the kill switch to work just like you said to do it. No problem. Thanks again. I replaced my mangled throttle cable, fixed the seat and got the kill switch to work. Very productive afternoon.

I think that will work. I've read everything from disconnect the black wire coming from the cut off switch and plug the kill switch into that. Although I think this is what you are talking about but disconnecting the low oil pressure switch. I'm going to disconnect the switch once we get out...

Ok so got the brakes working. Finally figured that out. Thanks for the help. Now I need to know how to wire up a kill switch for the preadator engine. I've looked on here for a diagram. When it comes to electricity I'm alittle blind. I did find one answer but I really need to see a diagram...

Father son winter project in Michigan

You know I've never built a go kart or owned one till now, to poor to own one as a kid. When my stepson said he wanted to work on the go kart given to us, he's 13 I was like lets do it. He never showed any interest till now. I told him as long as he worked on it I would also. So far it has...

I'd heard of using naval jelly as well. Really to be honest alittle bit of presoak and a lot working did the trick. Even the bearing I had to cut off wasn't all that hard to get apart. For me I used a method of PB Blaster and WD40. Then I would use some 3and1 oil I had that would work. I've...

Funny I learned a ton getting this thing torn apart. I never heard of toilet bowl cleaner, but the stuff gets rid of some pretty serious stuff..... One thing I learned was patience. Because no matter how much I wanted to work on it my stepson often didn't. It was a tug o war some times. But...

Thanks fellas. I think that I will be taking this thing apart and trying to figure out if maybe I got this band on backwards. I did take it apart and thought I flipped it opposite direction it was but I may have just turned it back the wrong way . I also thought that I had the rod from the...

Here's some finished shots of our ride. It's been fun to say the least. I now have to work on the brakes. May need to rearch them or something. Not sure yet. Brakes work good going backwards but forwards not at all. I've got to add a spring to the brake pedal also. Thanks for looking.

Thanks. I hope to upload a few pics today or tomorrow. We got the motor mounted, clutch on, throttle hooked up and some other stuff. All that is really left to do is hook the chain up. He'll be riding it either today or tomorrow. Can't wait to see him blast around on it. He's looking...

    New guy on the block

Well today so far has been productive for the kart. We got the axle back on. Bearings in place and get everything ready to drop the engine on it to get it ready to bust through some leaves. Hope to have it running within this weekend or first of the week. I've been so busy haven't had time...

I'm not so sure the spindles were switched or not. All I really know is that the spindle arms face the front so I'm sure the Ackerman is off. With the Ackerman off the toe was also out of whack.

We had to reweld the steering arm back on and fix a crack in the frame. Had a good friend of mine help me out with it. Took longer to get to his house than it did to fix it. I still need to set the toe but will do that once I get the tires back on it. Went today to CKI, Competition Karting...

We are still plucking away at this thing. Just working when we can. I'm working six days a week right at the moment but hopefully we get some stuff done this week. We need to make a parts run this week. We are getting closer by the minute, just need a few more minutes.

Well Sid I appreciate the kind words and also the interest in my interest. I actually have several books on pinstriping. This includes Alan Johnson, Herb Martinez and several videos from The Wizard. It would be great to have someone actually teach me instead of the learning on my own. But...
