    yea it should hold up, i am currently making a go kart with an 11hp and a mtd riding mower diff, and putting sprockets on the diff axles going down the a rear axle. Ryf has done that here and done a great job it looks awsum. nic

    yea the wheels should spin at around 900prm @3600 rpm from the engine (full bore), that should do 50km/h with 30cm diametre wheels.. It should have heaps of power, but if we geared it up by 1.5 X i think it will have enough power as 1.5 times isn't very much. our engine is an 11hp.

    we have a vertical drive engine (11hp) and the diff that both came off a riding lawnmower similar to this one here. the diff is approximately 1:4 ratio and the wheels came directly off it, so it would have plenty of torque. i am asking whether i could put another gear ratio coming off the diff...

    ...so you are saying 6 or 7 on the diff and the 1 on the axle or the other way around? BTW i am relatively new to this so please forgive me.

    we would be mosty using it on flat ground eg grass or tarmac, or we have a dirt track that is reasonable flat and solid.

    Yeah ill think about it and hopefull come up with a sketch. Also another idea I thought of is to have a box with two bevel gears in it, although I thought they might not stand up to all the high rpm's. What do you guys think. TIA, Nic
