anyone done dual motors on fixed axle

I'm thinking that unless this is a racing kart, the speeds and loads will be low enough to not contribute much to any negatives. With all 4 tires gripping the ground with good traction, I don't see any/much slipping. Not sure how it will pan out if driving in slippery mud, but then any slippage...

anyone done dual motors on fixed axle

I think the cons stated above are most likely overstated. Put it this way: having both wheels independently driven is FAR better than just one wheel drive, and likely better than a live/solid axle driving both wheels the same. Even if it is No better than a solid axle 2wd, it can't be too much...

    Electric Wooden Mini Big Rig

I like the progress so far. The first thing I thought when I saw the 2x6 lumber frame was "how heavy is this thing going to be?" Anywhere you can save weight along the way will reap rewards in the end. Firstly, you want the motor to be able to move it. Secondly you are going to have to...

New Guy, researching an e-Kart build

Phaseman you are scaring me! Just because the motor is rated up to 50amps doesn't mean that much will be pumped into it, does it? I checked the motor and can't find any specs listed on it. It came out of some name brand e-mower, a good sized one not a small cheapie. The specs I listed came off...

Brakes for go kart ish project

Yes I understood, but I don't think those bicycle style clampers would be sufficient. I was offering the idea of motorcycle brakes as a much better and still affordable alternative, if somewhat more complex (due to mounting and hydraulics). Nice job on the Green Machine too!

New Guy, researching an e-Kart build

*I didn't realize there was a section for electric stuff yet, so I am pasting my intro post here. Looking forward to perusing all the threads here!* Good day to all from heatmizr, aka Todd... I've just begun browsing and gathering some basic ideas. I suppose I got started when I scarfed an...

Brakes for go kart ish project

Kudos to that kid but that was kinda painful to watch. Thanks for that though; I hadn't yet thought of that style of brake, looks cheap and efficient. I am a motorcyclist and have to believe that it would be pretty easy to rig up a motorcycle hydraulic brake. Anyone done so? Getting the bike...

    Info gathering for first kart...

Thank you sir; yes that is the first post I happened to see, and very informative. What do you think of my motor selection? It was free! I like the idea of "over-volting" a motor. However, using a 36v motor, that's a lot of batteries. Since I don't think I want to carry 3-4 deep cycle 12v...

    Info gathering for first kart...

Good day to all from heatmizr, aka Todd... I've just begun browsing and gathering some basic ideas. I suppose I got started when I scarfed an electric motor out of my neighbor's electric mower who's controls crapped out. I wanted to see if it is big enough to drive a small kart for my sons. They...
