    Solar pool heater

Love the inventiveness. I built a solar house heater over the winter. Outside temp was 42 degrees, air it was blowing in was 117 degrees! Huge increase IMO. I bought all the solar cells and got them tabbed together to power the fans, but haven't finished it yet which would make it entirely off...

Best way to increase top speed?

I'm pretty sure the high speed set point he is referring to is just the screw that regulates the throttle stop on the engine. It has a spring around it. Not sure if that's what he means or not. Paul

HELP! Bearings stuck on live go kart axle...

They do snap when the pressure lets go, but never anything as dramatic as an explosion. As a matter of fact, its become almost common practice for me to cut bearings off instead of trying to press them off on some things, pinion bearings come to mind because its way too much trouble to get a...

HELP! Bearings stuck on live go kart axle...

Cut it off..Just be careful and don't knick the axle, not that it's a huge deal if it gets a little knick.

Theory question - No, not homework!

I second what daisan said about hydrostatic drive...lawn mowers do just that. BTW daisan, I see your location as nixa, MO... I live in Ozark now, but lived in Nixa most of my life... small world.

    What kart is this?

Do these have a transmission im guessing? He says it needs a forward/reverse cable and has a broken tail light but everything else works.

    What kart is this?

Also, any idea on a value as/is? It's not far from me, and would work much better for my sons then the single seater/non-suspended kart I have. Click Here Thanks, Paul

How NOT to build a car, LOL!

Saw that earlier. When your internal combustion engine externally combusts just keep cranking.... it will self correct or Darwinism will step in. Paul

Help with mounting hubs to axle

I just drilled and tapped threads in mine for set screws. I put 2 set screws per hub and I'm going to drill little recesses in the axle for them to sink in a little. I have no idea if it will hold or not but I will find out. FWIW, I have the same hubs you bought.

    Electic drag kart!

What exactly do you mean you don't need a speed controller? What are your plans for varying motor speed? Paul

Help, don't know what kind of battery to use

There is no way to calculate that accurately. Depends on gearing, weight, driving style, etc.

Help, don't know what kind of battery to use

Again 18ah is just a number, I'm sure 3 batteries will power it, I just wouldn't see it having much drive time between charges. In other words that setup wouldn't net you a full 18 holes on the golf course

Help, don't know what kind of battery to use

amp/hours are a relative efficiency rating. More of an industry standard to rate them that way. You can pull more then the amp/hour rating from a battery, it is just considered out of it's efficiency range, so most likely it will create excess heat and lessen the life of a battery. If your setup...

Help, don't know what kind of battery to use

I'm trying to figure out what you are doing exactly. Why are you wanting to make a hybrid parallel/series circuit? Also, remember Amp/hour ratings are for a 20 hour period so trying to get the a/h to be the same as the amp rating of the motor doesn't make sense. Ideally, you would would want...

    Temperature gauge mystery

I'd start by back probing the temp sending unit with the gauge not attached. Measure the resistance as the sensor is heated. I would leave the sensor attached to the engine rather then bench heating it, in case it's grounding trouble through the block. My guess it that the resistance will...

    Temperature gauge mystery

Did you replace the temp sending unit when you replaced the gauge? Sounds like a grounding issue.

Help, don't know what kind of battery to use

More amp/hours will run the motor for a longer period of time, less amp/hours won't run the motor as long. Paul

Help, don't know what kind of battery to use

Again, a motor is going to draw only the amperage it needs, you don't need to worry about over/under amping the motor. Amperage is current. You are probably thinking about voltage which is the supply, you can definitely over-volt and under-volt a load, both of which can burn up a load if it's...
