Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

OK, I rechecked for spark and I am getting a spark. Guess I couldn't see it in the direct sun before. I even went and got a new spark plug, but I still have the same problem. It just turns over and over but won't fire. I recharged the battery overnight, but that didn't help either. It turns...

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

It's a GY6 clone (Howhit). I'll get some pics up in the next couple of days. Thanks for the advice on the fuel line! I'll fix that up and see if it helps.

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

OK, finally got around to taking the CVT apart. The drive pulley was stuck in "middle gear". I took it apart and one of the roller weights was in there crooked not letting the device fully collapse. So, I think I fixed that but... Now the buggy won't start. At first I tried to start it with...

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

Update: New carb and intake manifold arrived last Friday. Got them installed and the engine started right up and idled like a purring kitten! :D Put all the tubing and airbox on and had a slight issue. There is a hose that connects from the top of the engine to a small chamber in the airbox...

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

Yes, it has the electric choke. Just waiting on the eBay seller to verify the bolt hole spacing so I know it will fit. Thanks for all the help so far guys! :)

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

OK, looking on eBay I can get a carb rebuild kit for $27 shipped. The intake manifold elbow looks to be about $10 shipped, but I need to verify the dimensions tonight before I order. So, looking like ~$37 for all that. I'm pretty sure the stock carb is 24mm, but I will verify that tonight...

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

I poked some wire strands through the jet holes. I had it completely apart and I used a whole can of carb cleaner on it. I will order the rebuild kit, some new hose, and the intake elbow and see if that gets me somewhere. How does the lemon juice thing work? Just put it in a pot of boiling...

Got a used buggy (Tomberlin Crossfire 150); need a little help.

Just picked this up used for $300! :wai: The seller got it to start using starter fluid, and was even able to ride around his circle driveway if he kept it floored. I didn't have quite as much luck and only made it halfway before it died on me. I got it home and I took the carb all apart...

What does everyone do with their used oil??

Advance and Autozone (auto-parts stores) in the US take it for free. Not sure if you have anything like that in S. Africa, though.

Centrifugal clutch questions, gearing, & maybe a TC?

It looks like I might be able to mount the engine 20mm towards the left rear tire with just a couple of holes drilled in the plate. But to do that 2 of the engine mounts will be on the edge of the mount hanging on by washers. Hope that makes sense and I'm not sure how safe it is. Plus, I...

    Newbie Engine Behavior Question

Your engine idle speed vs your clutch setting. Most centrifugal clutches are 2300rpm stock. That's when they start grabbing with their pads (not just bearing spin). You can get different springs to adjust this setting. Not sure what engine you have (I have the 212cc Predator), but mine is...

Could my engine RPM some how be LIMITED?!

No, it means you set the beginning of the clutch engagement at 1600-3100rpm. Top rpm is of no concern here. Once it fully engages you can rev as high as your engine setup will allow. Just set it enough above your engine's idle speed so that it doesn't move the cart at idle.

Could my engine RPM some how be LIMITED?!

Yes, but the clutch is affected by load (weight). Also, I'm not so sure if that physics statement applies to something under 1G of downward force (gravity). Take any car and add 1000lbs to it. I seriously doubt it would reach the same top speed on a flat. Going down hill it might get there...

Centrifugal clutch questions, gearing, & maybe a TC?

Here are some pics of the area. Click on them for higher resolution. From what I can tell the 12t sprocket on a TC is behind the driven pulley, but that isn't my concern. In relation to the same gear on a centrifugal clutch it appears that this gear is closer to the crankcase which...

Could my engine RPM some how be LIMITED?!

Have you tried going downhill to take the load off the TC, so that it can fully open into top gear? Maybe the TC needs a higher engine speed to fully engage the top gear?

Centrifugal clutch questions, gearing, & maybe a TC?

OK, I ordered the TC last night, but now I'm regretting it. After looking at a lot of pics of it from various angles, I don't know how I'm going to get it to work. The 12t gear on it looks too close to the engine. With a centrifugal clutch the gear is almost at the very end of the engine...

Centrifugal clutch questions, gearing, & maybe a TC?

I don't really need more torque; it jerks my head back as it is. I actually want more speed. Now I have to do something since the gear is stripped, so I was thinking of going to a 15t gear instead of the stock 12t gear. However, I was also thinking of just putting that money into a TC...

Centrifugal clutch questions, gearing, & maybe a TC?

Hey guys! First post and first kart. :wai: I bought an old little single-seater. Paid $200 for it. It came with an old 5hp B&S engine w/ no governor and no air filter. The engine ran fine, but I had to spray a little gas in the carb to get it going (per the instructions from the...
