I'm not awesome with mechanics, but a friend in the know told me that I need to get this nut off the crankshaft to expose the kotter pin (or woodruff key) so we can find out if it's been sheared off. I took a picture of it and placed it above. Can anyone tell me what kind of tool will take this...

I bought an old electric go kart from a family fun center that closed down. I'm currently in the process of stripping out all the electrical components and putting an 8hp B&S engine on it with a CVT. It's in pretty rough shape and this is my first real mechanical project. N00b alert. Anyway...
