That"flexible" means enough to absorb engine's vibration but not much visual displacement Chain/belt drive allow not so accurate alignment and center line distance is ajustable I had ever used same kind rubber mount on a small engine aplied with timing belt drive that movement much more than...

Chain train rigid mounted,belt problem depends on how flexible between drive and driven pulleys,it won't fail if the engine not moved too much displacement when the clutch engaged(low speed high tension)
