    Educate me on welding gas

Airgas is one of my two local weld shops and they gladly sell to individuals. I would hope/expect it is the same in your area.

    Build Off Trophy MISSING!

Shoot, if I had realized there was a trophy, I would have worked harder ;-). Good luck getting hold of it.

Hand Controls, why am I just thinking about this???

Here is the best pic I have of ours: They are pretty flimsy, might also be nice to upgrade to metal levers for more leverage :-)

Hand Controls, why am I just thinking about this???

We have hand controls on our tiny kart and they work ok. Both are mechanical, which makes it easy to hook them up, but also limits the force you can apply. Converting to hydraulic brakes would help depending on the hookup. The nice thing is it means just about any size person can easily ride...

    Educate me on welding gas

I advise scoping out your local weld shops. Many are very particular about buying, leasing, filling something they don't own, etc. For MIG, I suggest a simple C25 mix. Only now at farm stores are tank swaps getting common. The nice thing is it works just like swapping your propane tank. Gas...

SOLD - Electric Motor, controller, contractor, and E-stop NEVER USED $600

This seems like a great bargain! If I was actively pursuing my eConversion, I would jump on it. At this price, somebody will/should.

    Engine or Electric Motor?

Good luck. I started with an engine, but have considered switching to electric as riding in my neighborhood is problematic due to the noise. I suggest if you have no noise concerns or if you have a smaller budget, you will be happier with an engine. Here in the states, you can get a fairly...

2019 - DuroPower (El Cheapo) Resurrection

Yes, I am calling it finished for the build-off. We will continue to tweak it into the future, but have not made any significant changes for the last couple months. It is hella/scary fast!

    generic homemade exhaust pipe questions

That's pretty cool. I have been tossing muffler ideas around for a while, but this looks really good. Any estimates on sound level vs stock muffler on predator?

New guy trying to tweak a cheap Kart with my sons

Wow, was not aware of the CT200 series. Apparently that engine has been making the rounds for a long time. I knew Honda had the CRF70, but that was a 3 speed. The first 4 speed I recalled was the KLX110. Does this version even have a reverse? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New guy trying to tweak a cheap Kart with my sons

The Kawasaki KLX110 has used a variant of that engine (I think) for a very long time. It predates the Honda and even most of the clone usage AFAIK. If you do a bit of research for the KLX110 motor and even hop-ups, I bet you will find a ton of info. For years, they were the only mini/pit bike...

2019 - DuroPower (El Cheapo) Resurrection

Quick test with stage 3 Predator yielded 39mph with a limited running distance. I also rode it myself and the mechanical brakes are good enough to lock up from high speed and the light front end with sensitive steering gets really sketchy. You can see in the video how easily it bounces around...

    generic homemade exhaust pipe questions

I am faced with the same dilemma on my kart build and have chosen to buy straight and bent pipe(tube) and weld it together. Biggest issue is the diameter is so small it is not common/standard. Luckily after hunting around I did find enough bends to do exactly what I want. I only have a...

    Ripping my arm off

The billet flywheel is 3.5lbs. Inter webs is guessing stock is 5lb+. I could go weigh it if you need an accurate number. Oh, I completely forgot this technique last night and have a nice new welt. Starts nice and easy when warm though, just like my other 4 stokes did. I totally see...

2019 - DuroPower (El Cheapo) Resurrection

Well that may just be a wrap for the 2019 build off. We took the kart to the Grandparents yesterday in the hopes he will get to ride it more often in their neighborhood. Custom exhaust, bomber seat and eConversion are shelved likely for winter at the minimum. He did have a blast tearing...

Gas / Electric Swappable Power Module Kart

All this thinking electric has motivated me to finish version 3 of our Razor E100 scooter. I may hate electronics, but if I think about them long enough, it all seems to start getting clearer. The scooter has a 56-63 195kv KEDA motor and has a 48V 5.2Ah pack of RC LiPo. It seems like the 48V...

Need advice on a future 212 build

Yes, I believe a non-hemi is a better platform for modification for exactly that reason along with piston clearance. We have one of each (hemi/non-hemi). The only reason we upgraded the hemi is that we had it first and seized it when the actuator arm fell down into the crankcase. For our...

Need advice on a future 212 build

I installed this kit recently on a hemi predator: http://www.nrracing.com/product-p/stage3hopup-ph.htm I selected the billet flywheel and Mod2 cam. Other than a wicked recoil on startup, I have been pretty pleased with it. It upped our top speed from ~30mph to between 50-60mph. Still need...
