Look up pillow blocks. Run one bigass controller... or twin controllers off of one throttle/potentiometer.

    5hp Briggs for $30.00

Everyday machine shops? I'm talking about actual high dollar diamond hones made for REAL honing. Not your spring loaded paddle hones. "REAL" hones will keep your bore straight while "boring" it out a tad. People hone out half of .010 on a daily basis for boring... get it close, hone the rest.

    Standard Duty or Heavy Duty?

For .010 oversize or so, yes, you could hone it. Anymore and you'd need some boring heads. You tried to straighten that huge shaft (lol) with a hammer, with the crankshaft still IN the engine? obtw, sounds liek it seized.

Arc, Mig, or Tig Welding ??

As for strength, all methods of welding remain equal when designated welding procedures are followed.

    Electric Barstool Racer

The concept of AGM and "maintenance" free batteries are essentially the same. You won't "spill" any acid if you crack them, period. Any SLA (SEALED lead acid). In this case, it's generally a special type of fibreglass or whatnot which holds the electrolyte. You can remove the protective caps on...

What exact engine do I have?

Updraft carby, looks like a 2/3/4/5hp motor, leaning towards the 2/3HP. Serial number doesn't add up though.
