How old? I like pickem-up trucks and have toyed with getting an older Ferd or Chebby.

I just realized your seat frame has the snap studs on it. You might go “all out” and have a snap-on seat made for it if you can determine the dimensions and specs. Close enough is good enough, because some of those were embossed with “CLARK” and the model number. I don’t believe you...

    Carter Super Wheels Refurb

If they are in any way growly or noisy, you can replace or repack. They are common, off the shelf bearings. To repack them, you just pry up the rubber seals (hardly a seal, more like a dirt shield) taking care not to damage it and smear some bearing grease in there and replace the seal or just...

Surely not! Ezcome would never drive/own/let his wife drive a car that blends in, he’s got too much personality for that. I thought he was talking about Barb too but he’s referring to Grizz’s, ahem, “hairy girl.” That’s kinda beyond the pale. What would Sid do?

The size of the brake band and drum are not listed on that manual, sadly. You must have gone the extra mile and put G428 brake drum (or G449 brake band) in your search engine. I just did and it yielded fruit: https://www.gopowersports.com/5-carter-brake-drum/ Their product descriptions are...

420cc Off-Road Go Kart Built and Designed From Scratch

Really like the fan idea for the CVT. They used to have those for both centrifugal clutch assemblies (usually a jackshaft setup) with a cover as well as for TC/CVTs. You'd see them on older parts diagrams, Comet Industries brand usually, and wonder what the heck is that fan for. Engine sounds...

Hit the reply button beside each person's post. These quotes get "stacked" into one reply window. Don't need to spell, we have technology for that. 😀 I think that happens because you think about those things too much, but it's okay man.

By the way, you can multi-reply all in one post but it's a high level skillset, might be beyond your reach. 😏 😄

    Cable brake questions

That's a good point and maybe two brakes would be better. I was reading past DIYGK posts on the topic; the mechanical disc brake seems to have major fans and major detractors. Lots of people use "locking up the axle" as the measure of effectiveness and some (most?) of the guys who said that were...

For what it's worth, your kart is probably a Super Wheels model 1215. That's a crude technical drawing on the pdf but the shapes match and it shows the hardware with a description of the parts like tire sizes, sprocket tooth count, etc. Pretty useful for what it is...

Airheart - Thomas - Comet - Rotary - Mechanical Brakes

Among other brands. All of these mechanical brake calipers are the same, or nearly the same in operation. Can be used with nearly any diameter disc, but only up to 1/4" (6.35mm) thickness, which is why I didn't list any brake discs. Hurst / Airheart / Tolomatic MB-1 Thomas / Knott Mfg "400282"...

    Hello there my fellow humans

The plot thickens… the choice is now between TWO dirt bike engines. Are these both 2 strokes or what? Is the Kindasucki bike trashed and/or worthless except for its engine? I’m not into cannibalising a perfectly good bike for its engine unless you’re just borrowing it for a while. The engine in...

    Cable brake questions

Adjust them per the instructions I posted and then report back. A rod is better than a cable, at least I think so. Stranded cable seems too elastic, like using a rubber band.

    Cable brake questions

The glaring issue you might be having: you must adjust this brake caliper like an automotive-type disc brake. In other words, the pads should be lightly dragging on the disc/rotor. I think Airheart / Tolomatic was the original manufacturer for these so that is where I got this info. The...

    Carter Super Wheels Refurb

That’s an insane deal with a motor and that KIND of motor. 😳 Got pics of the whole thing or a pic of the craigslist/FB Marketplace ad? It’s a very good deal if it’s a motor-less rolling frame with basically everything intact except a vinyl seat cushion (usually missing or severely tattered) and...
