Hey Fellas, Today's daily log/progress report While "re-calculating" I remembered that there was another "parts" engine, in storage ...& that should have a "good" Turbo on it :unsure: It "was" in a non-running truck, that I bought years ago (just for the towing/flatbed, that was on the back)...

Hey Denny, Well...for today's daily log/progress report :smartass: 1.) With the help of some (actually a lot of) heat, I got the broken studs out of the "replacement" Turbo unit ...& got the (3) exhaust bolts off too :wai: & 2.) I got the "damaged" Turbo unit off of "my" truck :thumbsup: But...

This is what the exhaust manifold/area (on the parts truck) looked like, when I took the Turbo unit off :thumbsup: I was expecting to just see a simple (probably metal) "gasket" in between the Turbo unit & the manifold ...but, this is what it looked like :unsure: Looks kinda wierd to me :huh:

Yesterday, I also I worked on removing the Turbo unit, off of the "parts" truck (first) ...but, ended up "breaking" a couple of the "mounting" bolts off, in the process :confused: * These bolts are for mounting the Turbo to the exhaust manifold ...the (2) "inner" mounting bolts, go from the...

Update: The Isuzu 4HE1 Diesel engine holds 12q. (3 gal.) of motor oil 1st.) Assuming the worst, I thought/figured that it would be pretty much empty ...but, to my surprise, got a pan full :bannana: when I drained what was left, of the oil out of this engine 2nd.) Using a couple of gallon jugs...

Hey Denny, From my assessment (so far) ...after discussing the situation, with a couple of Diesel mechanics ...the "fuel system" doesn't seem to have anything to do with...this particular situation I could be wrong ...but, it seems like (maybe) an oil seal went out in the turbo unit ...which...

Had ta have 'er towed home :ack2: Yup, seems to have sucked "most" of the oil out of the pan * FWIU that is what the engine was running on (engine oil) ...& explains why the engine was running with the key "off" (which turns the mechanical fuel "injector pump" off) ...& also, explains where...

Hey Denny, A bit of backstory I was driving down the freeway ...& when I went to get off, on the off ramp, the truck didn't seem to be decelerating, like normal So, I quickly "goosed" the throttle, a couple of times ...to "test" if it was like "stuck?" or something It would accelerate...

Hey Sparkwizard, Tires are fine ALL of that smoke came out of the exhaust pipe :ack2: In the video, did ya notice (or hear) the engine "screaming" at WOT ...until it "died" (hopefully NOT fatally) ...& the key/ignition was in the "off" position
