Man. I buy the better hiking shoe from Walmart for under 40 bux. Then head to the insert section and buy the ones with the solid arch supports and jell heel. Thats for my non working feet.
For work I get the Irish setters. Kinda a mix between a cowboy and wally boot.
I want the high cuff for keeping stickers and dirt out, no laces for same reason. They get the same insoles.

Ive heard that you make good on what ever keeps you from the ground, shoes, tires, mattress.
But sometimes you just gotta go barefoot in the grass.

My biggest issue is, trying to find boots that are both comfortable and last a long time. Automotive work really does in footware, compared to welding or landscaping.

Steel or composite long as it meets ANSI standards. I just bought Ariat Timberland 8" steel toe. They have been decent so far. I was dumb and stacked my Dr Scholls insoles under the Ariat ones and ended up scuffing the back of my heels to the point of bleeding.
