why don't you do away with the carb set up and do a upgrade and run a mikuni carb.I have a kohler command engine on my kart and she runs well with a different carb set up and eliminate all the unwanted attachments
I had the same problem with my kart.I had a set of exhaust which was to small for the small mods I had done to the kart so i changed the diameter of my exhuast and no more backfire after i come out of throttle
you could be having problems with your exhaust. with the muffler on it.it could be restricted causing the engine to backfire after you get out the throttle
Ok thanks for your input. I think i will stay with the star clutch.It's been pretty good to me and i don't want to really cut my pto down just for it to fit.I would like to drop down on the stall engagement but if i can't do it without modifying my pto shaft i will leave well enough alone
