OK I have a question for all the gear heads out there. I am wanting to know what number of teeth on the engine sprocket and the axle sprocket? My kart is going to be about 100 pounds and the engine is going the be the HF 6.5. Any help on this would be great. Also any help on understanding...
I am wanting to do the same thing when I get the time to build mine. (Hopefully this summer when I send the wife and kids on vac.) I have one question for you. How and where are you planing to place the clutch. I was thing of putting mine on the shift handle. but I still have fully thought...
You can use these

for the clutch you can use a handle bar like stearing and put the clutch lever on it and make a shifter shaft that goes all the way to the back using pivot arms.
So what you are telling me is that these engines produce some good power and with the gearing that they have on them the can move a fat man like me and a some what heavy cart?
I found this engine out on the net. Can you'll tell me what you think of this engine. Would it do good for a off-road cart? it seems to be good but I don't know. Keep in mind that I am 200lb adult, so the engine would need to be able to move me and the cart to a good speed.
Here is the link...
I am thinking of getting the following engine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/110cc-Engine-CVT-4-STROKE-mini-ATV-DIRT-BIKE-OEM-AUTO_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35595QQihZ022QQitemZ350039940318QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
What do you all think of putting this in my soon to be built kart?
Please help...
Ironman, have you built the demon:devil2? How is the instruction for it? Is it easy and how long did it take you to build? I am wanting to build one but not sure how long it will take and if the instructions are really as good as they say.
I agree but it also depends on the thickness of the walls. That is the question that I am asking. If I used 1" square tube what thickness of walls should I use and if I went with the 1.25" square tube what wall thickness should I use?
OK so the best size would be the 1.25 square tube. Now what is a good thickness that would be good for off-roading, just some light off-roading on a farm.
But using 1" square tube with .125 thick wall with a little more cross bars to even out the weight would seem like it could hold just as much as the 1 1/2" square tube. Please let me know if I am thinking right on that.
I am going to build my kart from scratch in the next month or so. I would like to get some input from everyone here. I am going to use square tube just because its easyer to weld.
Now for the help, what diameter should I use and how thick of walls should I get.
Some back ground on...
I would break it down into 2 parts
Part 1 how much would it cost per horse power
Part 2 see how much it cost per RPM
after you do that then see if it worth the extra money to upgrade or keep rebuild the current engine
