You have to remember that these engines were designed to be held at full throatle for hours at a time, so you would expect that 3600 rpm would be well within the safe opperating rev range.
I DON'T RECOMMEND TRYING TO EXCEED THE FACTORY SPECS OF THESE ENGINES.
No way these little gears would hold up to the power of a petrol engine. Yes they might handle 3.5 horse power maybe more but these engines that most are running on your gokarts are NOT high performance engines BUT HIGH TORQUE ENGINES. The sheer torque of these engines will easily snap these gears.
