    Help please switches keep melting.

I've made an electric go kart for kids. It's a 24v 240w motor, 2 sla 12v 7ah batteries wired in series. Potentiometer speed control. I had a 6 pin forward reverse switch, that melted. Replaced the switch then the Hont Ht1007 switch from a drill I made into throttle pedal melted. Where am I...

    Cable sizing

I have a 24v 240w motor which I believe would make it 10amp. I'm going to be using leisure batteries for the power. Normally batteries use quite thick cables but the cables on the controller I brought from ebay has really thin wires. The controller is rated to 60v 20amp so I'm sure it will work...

    Throttle pedal

Thanks for the reply I've wired a 240v drill trigger to the pedal and it's working. Just need to tidying the wiring now and it's done finally. I'll try and get pics when I work out how to do it.

    Throttle pedal

I'm making a 24v elec kart for my kids from scrap parts. I wondered what parts to use as a throttle. I had a linear potentiometer but it was old and burned out on the terminal. I have brought a voltage regulator with rotary potentiometer for overall speed control for when kids are on it. But I...

    Motor battery balance help

Yeah the 18v batteries just cooked there not meant for it but I just wanted to make sure the project wasn't a waste of time. I'll wire 3 12v in series and try that today. Thanks for the reply. It's torque I need not speed with the kids driving it. Gear ratio is 3.5 to 1 so plenty enough for kids.

    Motor battery balance help

I've built my first go kart for kids using a mobility scooter motor. It's 24v 240w 2000rpm. I originally put to car batteries on it and it barely moved, as I last hope I attached my two makita 18v batteries and although it destroyed the batteries I ran brilliantly and fast for about 15 mins. My...
