The motor controller I am using is rated for a 1000W motor.
I found some motor controllers. This is one is rated for 1200W:

I have cheap Chinese motor controller rated at 40amps and 36v that keeps catching on fire at full throttle. The motor is rated for 36v and 35.6 amps. I have three batteries at 12v and 13ah each wired in series. I don't know why it's catching fire and have gone through two controllers.
