Go Kart Recommendation for Dirt/Grass Racing Among Friends

One important straightforward question is how many hp for being able to slide in corners with TC vs. clutch, on grassy dirt? I know there are many variables, and it's tricky, especially when you're trying to prevent young people from hurting themselves, but still allow them to learn and have...

Go Kart Recommendation for Dirt/Grass Racing Among Friends

Thanks panchothedog The setting would be a prairie or former farm field. It would have vegetation at the start but I assume not for long. I've driven my small 9hp Robin/clutch/8" slicks kart on grass, road and dirt, and it's fun on all three. I think the goal is a fun driving experience/sliding...

Go Kart Recommendation for Dirt/Grass Racing Among Friends

Hi I don't have a lot of gokart experience, but I have enough to know there are people like you all who have a lot of knowledge and are kind and helpful people. I have a young friend who wants to buy/build a couple (2-3) of karts to have races/fun at his house/property. I have multiple karts...

Chain Problem -- Slipping or what???

Yeah, it's the right chain. #35. The master link is a little tight on one side, so it is stiff there. I'm going to tinker with it and see if that fixes it. I'll report back. Anyone else have this problem? With the wheels up, no problem. But under load, turning, it "pops" and you can feel...

Chain Problem -- Slipping or what???

Thanks for the ideas. It's a new chain, clutch, and sprocket, but that one link is stiff. I reinforced the frame, and the motor bolts are tight, so I don't think it's flexing. I'll try a new chain...

Chain Problem -- Slipping or what???

Hi all I have a Dingo frame with a 9hp Robin engine, 12 tooth clutch, and 60 tooth sprocket. (I'm aware I don't meet the 6:1 ratio) The chain "pops" if I gun it while turning, and even sometimes when I floor it going straight at low speed. It sounds like it's somehow slipping, but it's...

    Manco Dingo Throttle Question

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to avoid. I may do that, but I figured someone here would know what the original setup was. I think if I weld, I'll just put a tab with a vertical slot on it. Anyone know how this was set up?

    Manco Dingo Throttle Question

Hi all I'm building a kart with a Dingo frame and there is a small tube about 3/8" long welded to the side of the frame for the throttle cable to go through, but it's too small for a cable with a sheath to fit through. What's the proper set up for this? I'm accustomed to the sort that has the...

Robin Subaru Motor -- Governor Removal vs. Disable

Thanks, I thought I read that on the forum but didn't find it when searching.

Robin Subaru Motor -- Governor Removal vs. Disable

Hi I have an EX27 and am wondering what the advantage is of opening it up and removing the governor mechanism, vs. simply disabling/disconnecting it... I suppose there is a risk of the nylon gear breaking and making a mess of things. Is that the reason people go through the trouble of removing...

    Front Wheel Surprise! Dingo Frame...

Figured I'd complete this thread because there doesn't seem to be a solution to my problem without welding new angles to my spindles/king pins. That's what I did and I figured I'd share the process. With an angle grinder and metal cutting wheel, I cut about 90-95 percent of the weld holding...

    Front Wheel Surprise! Dingo Frame...

Axle and King Pin Angles Does anyone know of any new spindles that don't have a 90 degree angle between the axle and king pin? I've looked at several sites without luck.

I asked BMI, and those are 90 degrees, so they won't work...

    Front Wheel Surprise! Dingo Frame...

Hey DaiSan76 Those have the proper angle? I just tried some other spindles (that were on a Dingo) that don't have a right angle, and they overcompensate. The wheels ride on their outsides instead of insides. I'd rather not have to cut and weld to get them right. Hmm.
