    Comet Torque Convertor

I think I have myself all confused. Should the driven pull be facing the same way as the driver on this 20 series Comet? The longer story, I called Comet to ask tech support a couple basic questions and wrongly told them I had a older 30 series based on what I read about it the 30 series being...

I don’t know the engine health. Seems fine for what it is till someday when it gets a bigger one.

    Front steering geometry

5/8 weigh less. The front track width is something around 4” narrower than the front. The rear tire width makes it look more prominent as does the stance of the front RH nearly 2” lower. Well, it was but I fixed that already in favor of ground clearance.

    Front steering geometry

I have a big car for round track stuff. A USTMS car and also building a big car for SCCA stuff. I just can’t for the love of Baby Jesus leave things alone hahaha. This is the same one mentioned earlier post. I also have a Manco 2 seater. It’s a lot better but also single tire drive. It has...

    Front steering geometry

Karts have huge scrub radious as well. im thinking around 8 positive castor and decrease the scrub to help keep the front end from weight jacking the opposite corner on corner exit. I think, they would increase turn in feel, keep the inside corner tire loaded for mid corner stability and keep...

    Front steering geometry

This is going to get interesting. I'm used to designing the front pick up points based on the rear roll center and panhard bar mounts but with a fixed rear axle, the RC is at the rear tire so I seem to have something peculiar to work on here. About what Castor are people talking about? 10' positive?

    Got it. Thanks!

    Front steering geometry

I noticed in most or all of the cheaper kart for kids, specifically the ones with no suspension, the front steering geometry is horrible. They push like a dump truck, even worse with live axles, steering is usually too quick, steering wheels too small, etc. Im not against cutting up the front...

    Comet 30 series CVT

Thanks for the input. I wasn’t able to cross reference the belt number to anything or specification. It’s either way long, worn out, or a symmetrical belt. Probably all three. I have a new one coming based on what Comet Tech Support suggested. now I have to figure out why it won’t stay...

I should also add there is a .158 machined spacer between the two halves of the driver. Is that supposed to be there or maybe added to make this belt work? Kinda work anyway. Maybe the belt is too wide.

The belt is a Gates 12-13054. is that an asymmetrical belt? I can’t tell by looking at it if it’s severely worn, symmetrical, or general junk.

    Comet 30 series CVT

Got his kart running for the kids today. when I say kids, I mean me. Anyway, This cart has a comet 30 series Torque Convertor. I haven’t ever had one before. I thought it would be a smoother engagement from idle to go. It jerky, engages really quick one up to rpm and will even spin the...

I was able to find the original builder. it was built for racing at a local kart track for kids and about 5 years ago down sized for testing up yards.

Got a new kart for $100. It’s got a few problems that need addressed. I believe it’s a factory ride with some modifications over the years. I think the fenders and side skirts are fabbed by evidence of welds and schedule 40 pipe fittings. we’re not going to talk about the front wheel...
