    Jackshaft Bent

Very true, i should have support on the ends regardless of diameter. I think i will use more 5/8 pillow blocks mounted on some flat stock.

    Jackshaft Bent

Thanks for the advice guys. I though 5/8 would be just fine, being used on so many karts. I also read that less mass rotating = less power loss but i guess i should've sacrificed that for reliability with 3/4... Jim, thank you for the great idea but i could barely weld the angle iron on...

    Jackshaft Bent

Unfortunately no, it would hit the engine

    Jackshaft Bent

Hello everyone, this is the rear end of my yerf dog to which i have just welded bearing mounts for my jackshaft. My friend just bent the shaft while pulling out of the steep driveway, between the right pillow block and the small sprocket. He was trying to stop at the top of the driveway, but the...

Predator 212 Hemi Oil Sensor Wire Issue

I just got a hemi predator myself. The only way it shuts off is when that black sleeved wire coming from the coil makes contact with ground, the metal of the engine. I agree with the guy who said you might have grounded out the coil as you were cutting through the wire.

    Yerf Dog Support Beam

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll cut off the bar and attach some kind of guard that protects the tie rod without shortening the legroom

    Yerf Dog Support Beam

I can't tell which one you're asking about. Are you talking about the A-arm? I'm actually going to put the battery in the open space in the very front so sorry for the confusion with that. So I'm good to cut it off, just making sure no one steps on the tie rod.

    Yerf Dog Support Beam

Hi guys. I need help determining whether it's OK to cut off this bar or not. As shown in the picture, it wastes alot of the precious legroom for the passenger (which is quite scarce to begin with :lolgoku:) I have no idea if this will ruin the structural integrity but seeing as there is not one...

    Torque converter shredding belt

Alright so i need to adjust my driven unit? I didn't know you could do that. It seems strange this would happen though, as this was the setup it originally had. Only difference was 20" tires instead of 16". Maybe just because it was a cheapo belt or something? Probably can't hurt to make a real...

    Torque converter shredding belt

Hey everyone. My buddy and i just took my restored Yerf dog on its maiden voyage down the street. We probably drove it for a mile. Anyways, as we drove it a few times we noticed this black rubbery powder accumulating on the engine. We then drove up a small hill, which it handled fine. Then...

What kind of brakes do you recommend?

I'm not an expert but couldn't you use the kind of hand brakes they use on mountain bikes?

Do I need a smaller or larger sprocket for this?

Also you should probably put all your questions in one thread so that people can see all of them in the same place

Do I need a smaller or larger sprocket for this?

You could probably use the sprockets you got because bmx bikes use 40 pitch chain... You would need to make a jackshaft of some sort since you need a low ratio for those large rear tires. Use the go kart speed calculator to calculate the gear ratio you would need to go say 15 miles per hour and...

    Jack Shaft Diameter?

Hey everyone I'm installing a jack shaft in my Yerf-Dog so I can run larger rear tires, but I don't know what diameter to use. I'm either going to use 5/8" or 3/4". Is 3/4" considerably more durable? However 5/8" seems to be the standard, and 30 series TAV2 drivens have a 5/8" ID. Is the 3/4...
