It would be really cool to see a kart done in urban camo, or a dark olive drab.

Want to buy - Manco Dingo 285

Thanks again for the info and for your patience! I don't want to make anyone feel like I'm beating a dead horse. I just wanted to be sure the karts were the same size. There are some nicer examples I've seen come into the market place and one in particular is nice and clean. I'd likely go for...

Want to buy - Manco Dingo 285

Okay guys, so I feel a bit confused. Apologies for asking this, but is there (was there in later years) any difference in a Dingo 285 and 286 wheelbase? In one of my other threads, someone mentioned the 286 having a 6" longer wheelbase and a 40 series converter, vs. a 285. Is a 285 Dingo...

Awesome Sid. I appreciate the information. I was never able to find a cut and dried answer in my searches. Up until now I was just guessing.

New to karts, and would like some input

I've seen photos of these karts before. I think my neck would be sore after a couple laps!

    Found this yesterday.

Thanks for the information! It sounds like a 286 is more for me than a 285. I just like the lines of the chassis and it's simplicity. Bigger tires, a 40 series torque converter, and higher top speed sounds good to me! Thanks for the info and input. I usually check craigslist every day for...

    New to go carting

Wow, that's awesome and I appreciate you sharing that 10% discount code. Very helpful.

    Found this yesterday.

A 286, you say? This go kart stuff is pretty new to me. I didn't realize there was a 286, without a full cage. Nice. The seller did mention an 8hp engine that was originally on the kart. Now it makes sense how he fit the 420cc without needing a 40 series torque converter. I was really...

    Found this yesterday.

I was able to get him down to $500. It's hard to say what condition it is really in. I'd have to see it in person. I've seen some nicer than this one sell for $400 on Craigslist, but they were gone before I could get there, or they were just to far away!

    Found this yesterday.

Saw this one posted yesterday, and I'm interested in it. I've been having a hard time finding a Dingo 285 anywhere near me. This one is about an hour and a half away. Comes with the stock engine, and it has a brand new Ironton 420cc engine. The guy wants $700 though, but is open to dealing...

    Hard to steer

Thanks for posting that link to the Ackerman correction thread. That's something I would like to correct on my Manco go kart, eventually. Another thing that really kills steering on these karts is a solid live rear axle. The lack of a differential doesn't help steering one bit!

Tecumseh 6.5 hp Power Sport running rich

Got it figured out! I had to adjust the governor arm on the governor shaft. Now the arm pulls the carb link plate to the wide open position and I get full throttle! I wasn't able to take the go kart for a rip, but I suspect it will pull harder now that it's properly adjusted, and maybe I will...

Tecumseh 6.5 hp Power Sport running rich

Bob, thanks. I have no problem with my carb opening 100%. The problem is that my governor arm hits the intake manifold that the carb is mounted to, before it can pull the butterfly 100% open. I am familiar with the tang limiting the amount of travel on the stock carb though. That's not my...
