Engine sounds like it's hitting a limiter

5.5mm stem (in/ex) stock size stock length stainless steel valves. with a 14cc head with guides for the 5.5mm valves preinstalled. it binds at .450 with the stainless valves as thats what the website says is necessary for installation. Im not really a technic builder, Im very simple in the way...

Engine sounds like it's hitting a limiter

Yeah. I bought the red stripe 36lb springs from arc. They say they coil bind at .450 but my cam only does .265 and i have stock ratio rockers. Would rockers that weigh more not be able to return the valve to closed as fast because of their inertia and cause float? thats all I can think of. I...

Engine sounds like it's hitting a limiter

could be but i think pretty much all 4 stroke go kart ignition systems create a spark every revolution because the coil sparks every revolution of the flywheel which spins at 1:1 speed with the crank.

The website says its spin tested to 8500rpm, what speed do you guys actually run it at?

Engine sounds like it's hitting a limiter

I thought that but how would it float with 36lb springs? its got chromoly pushrods and stock lift ratio rockers. A reason I could think of is that I purchased stock length chromoly pushrods but instead of the stock length I recieved slightly longer 5.440” rods when they arrived. Don't understand...

Engine sounds like it's hitting a limiter

I've got a cheap GX200 196cc clone type thing. I've done a lot of upgrades to it, such as jets, filter, header, 36lb springs, billet rod, removed governor, cam, the list goes on. Unfortunatley I haven't got to doing the flywheel because around the time I bought the engine I had the most hobby...

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

Noticed you had an 2 filters on the catch can. I've seen that model can online that comes with the filter on top but what's the point of having both if they're just an outlet anyways? Also, how did you remove the stock breather valve, did you just drill it out or did you stick it open?

    Cheers, would be much appreciated

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

Sorry for bringing this back up but I was wondering if you had a breather filter attached to the stock breather on the valve cover, or just on the two you threaded into the valve cover

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

Yeah definitley will do, I will probably start with trying a catch can with one way valve and a breather filter. Your right that there probably isn't much that needs to be recirculated and what gets caught in a catch can probably shouldn't go back into the engine. Do you think a one way valve is...

C Cheers, I'll take your word for it and do some experimenting.

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

Sounds like a good system, but I do have a fuel pump coming from the valve cover so I don't know if venting all of the crankcase pressure will affect its pumping ability as it works off the constant pressure changes in the crank case. I just don't understand the point of a breather filter...

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

Yeah definitley. Do I need a breather filter or can I just have the breather going straight to atmosphere. I never really understood why you needed a filter with a crankcase breather because its really just pushing air out most of the time.

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

I hadn't heard of Smokey's engine before this. The technology sounds very ingenuous especially for the time. I was surprised it made more power than the stock engine let alone ran with such lean mixtures without a computer. I guess I'm not aiming for something like that, but more just...

    Crankcase Recirculation on aftermarket intake

I've got a GX200 (196cc clone) with many upgrades, among those are an aftermarket airfilter. I was wondering if I could connect the breather hose from the crankcase breather and thread a nipple into the air filter to 'recirculate' the air that comes out of the breather. I am aware that among the...
