Amount of torque with single wheel drive

Wow that is something. Such a huge vehicle and one wheel drive. Maybe I should get a TC but it costs 170€ + new sprockets and chain 50€.

    Power steering idea

I already have the sprockets and the steel. I would have to buy the joints anyway so only real cost is the chain which is under 20€. And where I live (Finland), the cost of shipping is usually more than the price of the product, in this case it would be over $100.

    Power steering idea

What happens in higher speeds? I have 420 chain, which should be strong enough. ---------- Post added at 06:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:02 PM ---------- I thought about the twitchiness which is quite common when it comes to chains, so maybe a tooth belt pulley assembly would...

    Power steering idea

Hi everyone I have had this idea about kart steering for a while now. I don't want to buy a rack and pinion assembly, and I'm not interested in making one, because it seems like a lot of work. Check the picture I included. In the end of the steering column is a 10T sprocket, which is...

Amount of torque with single wheel drive

I live in Finland, where go karting is not a big thing so I wont be able to buy keyed axles, sprocket hubs or wheels. I have built a live axle go kart but it didn't work well.

Amount of torque with single wheel drive

I have tires that are just under 16" The gear ratio is 7:1, the 70 teeth driven sprocket is only a little bit smaller than the wheel so I can't buy a much bigger sprocket, maybe 75 teeth tops. Do you have any thoughts if the kart will end up too heavy?

Amount of torque with single wheel drive

Hey everybody I am a quite tall guy, and I don't want drive with my knees in mouth. I made plans for a go kart with front and rear suspension and single wheel drive. (Live axle is unfortunately not an option) The kart would be 7 feet 4" long and almost 4 feet wide. The weight estimate for the...

    Is live axle impossible?

Has anyone here experience with a rather large kart and one wheel drive system?

    Is live axle impossible?

Thanks for the reply. Do you think a fixed axle would work even if the go kart is quite large? I have a design for the frame. The rear axle is in two parts. Both sides a held to the frame with bearing carriers. (The wheels own bearings aren't very good) Only the left side is connected to the...

    Is live axle impossible?

Hey everyone I'm starting a new go kart project and I'm thinking about making it a single wheel drive and not a live axle. My previous go kart had a live axle but it did not work so well because it did not have a keyway and the wheels were attached with a bolt through the axle. Because i had no...

    Too sensitive clutch or what?

Also, is it normal that when the engine is on and tires are on the ground the car doesn't move, but when i lift the rear of the ground the wheels start spinning. Is it normal.

    Too sensitive clutch or what?

I have a nice new go kart and it moves a bit too well. I have a Master 196cc 6.5hp engine and a centrifugal clutch. When I start the engine the car starts moving slowly. And when I drive with my foot not on the gas pedal, the car moves on quite well. Is my clutch too sensitive or is my car too...

    Something wrong

No i didn't have to, nut acceleration was really slow.

    Something wrong

I have 196cc Meister 6.5hp 4 stroke engine. Total car weight with driver about 250lb. I think the tire size is 16". I have 10 tooth clutch and 35 tooth sprocket. Those should answer almost all the questions.
