From what it sounds like you need new points and condenser. I work with older Briggs engines but there should be points right behind your flywheel. If you get it off there should be a wire going into a cover take that off and get some new points and condenser.

Ok then. I'll cut that assemply out and wait for the tc(I really want it to fit right) but I got the kill switch in today!
