That's definitely a hard lesson learned! I found a die forsale and I'm measuring the thickness I would need to grind the new weld down. Hopefully it works. If not then I'll look into upgrading the forks or buying a parts bike.
Just curious what other form of pic loading from a phone works? As mentioned above I do not use a desktop or laptop. On 4 of the other diesel forums I am on, photobucket seems to be the way photos are loaded and nobody complains or mentions they can't see the photos.
Sorry but I I'll not post up thumbnail pics. For the 1st reason the photobucket app doesn't have thumbnail option and 2nd I only use my phone for looking on forums. Plus I prefer pics without having to click them to view. Sorry for anyone not liking normal pics uploaded. Anywho anyone ever added...
It's the OD thread on the tube. It's the threads below the nut where the knurling thingy tightens down on the bearing. You can see in the 2nd pic how it's not seated due to the threads being worn away from the previous bearings that were all busted up. That head set is new but the threads on the...
I don't do thumbnails. I despise them on the other forums I'm on. I would rather not have to click on a pic to see it. Scrolling through a thread to see the pics is a lot better IMO.
I believe you're correct. ^ the threads will not tighten past the wear spot. I'm thinking if I lay a bead of metal across it and grind it down as close as I can, then run the die down and hopefully it will recut the threads. What are yalls opinion on that?
Pics of it as requested...
Anyone ever have to re-thread the handle bar forks? Idk what the pitch is, it's on a Murray track 2 mini bike. The guy I bought it off let his kids run it till the bearings literally destroyed. There is a bare spot in the threads, I wanna add metal to it and grind it down and re-thread it.... Or...
I don't think I've ever heard one of the V-twins with true dual exhaust. Most just run two into one. I say go true duals with some throaty little mufflers!
