Yes, positive the magnet fell off. I can stick it back on, but it doesn't stay in place. The other one doesn't seem to be screwed on. I have already cleaned and adjusted the points and the coil posts, so it's either the magnets or the coil causing the issue. How far apart should the two magnets...

My son has an old go-kart (one wheel drive, scrub brakes) with an old Tecumseh engine on it. After sitting for the winter, no spark. IT looks like one of the magnets has fallen off the flywheel and I'm not sure if this is causing the lack of spark or if it's the coil. Either way, I'm thinking...

Well, I realized I was missing the steel bushing plus the c-clip at the end, so I ended up just buying a new clutch. Had it running today :thumbsup:

This is probably a dumb newb question, but what is supposed to hold the clutch on the shaft? I bought the go-kart used and the clutch looked pretty new, but there is nothing (other than the tension of the chain) that secures the outside portion of the clutch from slipping off. The inner portion...

Russ, so did your LawnBoy have a diaphram carb on it? Or is it likely something I will have to buy separately? Thanks for all the input. Fuel delivery (to the carb) won't be a problem because the tank is mounted up high on the seat already.

I've read how it is not feasible to convert lawmower engines for a go-kart, but it seems this is mostly due to the oil pickup issue when mounting a vertical engine horizontally. But would a two-stroke engine be much easier? It seems like I'd only need to build a mount and figure out something...
