Where do y'all shop for tires? BMI and GoPower only have 1 turf style option in 15x6-6. I want something with a more aggressive tread pattern for dirt.
I took it for a spin and it goes. Much faster than it was with the Tecumseh.
Moving the engine to the left seems like a huge pain in the ***. So does moving the sprocket to the right. I'm going to try a spacer on the drive pulley first. If that doesn't work then I guess I'll be drilling some...
There's a small offset between the front and rear pulleys. Is that ok? I have another small spacer, but with it on everything just barely fits on the drive shaft.
I got the engine mounted and running. Gonna let it idle for about an hour to break in before I go on a test ride.:o
I ended up going with the 212. It's supposed to be for my kid. I'll eventually build something bigger for myself.
Can I reuse these from the Tecumseh, or do I need to purchase a torque converter still?
Yep, wheel spacer makes sense. Thanks for that.
I got it started yesterday but it wants to die instantly, without throttle. I drove it around the neighborhood a bit and it sure is slow. I doubt I got over 15mph. I'm a heavy guy so I wasn't expecting much, but it's sloooooowwww.
I'm wondering...
If I want to ask more questions as I go through and get this thing running well, should I continue to ask them here, or do you guys prefer I start new threads for each topic?
For instance I have a question about the steering. Driver side tie rod is touching the tire. Passenger side has almost...
I'm pretty familiar with carburetors. I have a couple dirt bikes.
He said that he just rebuilt the carb and put a new clutch on it. The clutch doesn't look new though.
I'm gonna pull it apart this weekend and see what I see.
Truthfully, this isn't my kid's kart anymore. It started out that...
I just took the advice from y'all and got the Yerf Dog. It wasnt as mint as the pics made it look. Got it for $300.
He said that you cant start it without someone in the driver seat, because it wants to take off as soon as it starts. He said that's what Tecumseh engines do and recommended I put...
So... lets pretend that I'm still entertaining the idea of getting the frankenkart with the ATV rear end for a second.
The rear end came off of a Honda Fourtrax. The rear diff has a gear ratio of 3.88. Does that help me in picking a clutch? 25" tires.
Honestly, I kind of want a project, as...
I was hoping to find a project, but not a headache. Thanks for the advice.
With the Yerf Dog, what would go into swapping the 6.5 for a 13hp? How much of a project would that be? Is the power/speed gain worth doing the swap?
We (grandpa) just built his older brother a kart and he's real jealous. He wants something for offroad though.
We have a good metal worker, but only a halfway decent mechanic in the family.
Negotiated price, but didnt buy yet. I was going to look at it tomorrow. Came here first because the rear end looked so different to me.
I want something with full suspension for sure. Gonna be riding desert trails and forest fire roads. Mainly it'll be for my 5 year old and his mom to follow...
Well, you guys know karts a whole **** of a lot better than me, so if you'd skip it, I'll probably skip it. I want a small project, not a headache.
I found this yerf for $500..
