I've seen most people using torque converters on Manco Dingos, what's the difference between using that and a CC? Would that require shifting?

I'm not very familiar with auto mechanics yet, what is cc/tc? I'm not sure what my sprocket size is either, what's normal for the Manco Dingo? I'm keeping the stock tire sizes, although I'm going to make the front tires a bit wider.
