i connected the spark plug and no spark still, also cleaned the mag because it was rusty. What should i try?

oh so i should have no wires to the mag to get spark?

i couldn't find a switch so i just connected a wire from the mag to the engine just to see if it has spark, because i wanted to get it running before i mounted it to the engine. There is no blue light going to the plug did i do something wrong?

btw do i solder the wire to the metal on the engine?

yeah its going on a kart, ok ill try that, do the wires have to be a certain thickness or can i just make use of the wires i have here? thanks

honda/or clone i think, wiring help thanks. Hey i got this engine off craigslist for $50 and i checked the wires and all i found was a mess of wires, not sure how to hook them up. Any ideas, also can anyone identify this engine btw im kinda new to this thanks.
