has anyone ever used a hand held rechargeable spot light, disassembled it and made a sheet metal shroud for the light? you could mount the battery and charging port anywhere. those lights arent too expensive and there bright. i think i will try this when i button up everything else on my chopper. what do you guys think?

Great idea. Those lights are awesome. I bought a couple of them when I moved out to the boonies. You can see stuff 300 yards away if your battery is charged.

I would advise using as much of the housing as possible. Maybe use self tapping screws to attach the plastic housing to a bracket on your vehicle. If you take off the housing you may find that it's hard to build something to attach to the reflector. If you do figure out a decent way to mount it, be sure to post a photo here.

I was thinking you might find a 3" or 4" long section of automotive radiator hose the right size so that lights handle would snugly fit into it. Then you could simply drill a hole through one side of the hose, bolt it to your front end, and push the lights handle into the hose to hold it in place.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a light off an old tractor or something? They make self-contained lights that take a standard old fashioned headlight, which could be replaced with a modern halogen.

Cut off the handle, fill in the hole, and spary the body of the light with chrome paint. Mount it where the hole was to make it easier to get looking good.
