So Ive been looking for a decent frame for my shifter kart build. I just dont want to jump at the first thing I see.
I started looking in the UK for karts .
There are allot karts on Ebay for what looks like great prices.
Shipping will kill me though but I take it karting over there must be more popular then here in the states .

The US is catching up to them, but in general most of Europe is ahead of us by a few years in any sort of motortsports. I have bought parts from the UK for my 2 stroke Puch moped. Shipping won't be that bad if you don't need it right away.

Yeah race karts are very popular in Europe.

I remember you've been searching your craigslist already. Since C/L doesn't have a category for go karts, sellers post kart ads in several different categories so its sometimes difficult to find them all. So make sure you perform your C/L searches using all the commonly used (mis-) spelling terms besides just go kart. Also enter the search terms: gocart, go cart and gokart (plus substituting the term shifter in place of go) to help find all the kart ads.

You could also start checking craiglist ads from other towns you'd be willing to drive to for a bargain. (if you found someone selling a nice $1000 shifter chassis for $300, It'd be well worth spending $100 or more on gas to travel and pick it up)

You should also try to check the C/L ads several times a day. When sellers price stuff way below its true value, there's usually savvy buyers that snatch up the bargain within the first hour of it being posted...

I'd also recommend you start posting your own C/L ads titled something like: Want to buy Shifter/race go kart. Sometimes these wanted ads will trigger guys (that don't want to post their own ad) into selling their kart. (make sure you include all the other search terms in parentheses at the bottom of your ad to help everyone else find it) You could also post your wanted ads in other towns craigslists but you'd have to change the wording around becuse C/L doesnt usually alow multable posting of the same ad.

Here's a couple shifter ads I recently ran across out here in AZ:

I live in CT Andrkart and I have looked low and high through Craigslist . The one I happen to find the seller was a Douche . So I chose to stay away from him. I also decided Im going to start with a bear frame. And bui;d it to my specs. As I stated B4 I want to do some custom machining.
Im looking to buy a Birel R32 frame 55.00$ in the UK .
What type of customs do I have to deal with buying out the USA?
But for the most part I see they have allot of frames and rollers in Europe . It also looks like from the last time ive purchased something in UK our US dollar has gone up . Few years ago a dollar was worth 50cent there now its worth bout 70 cents .

Sweet, I've always thought Tonykart made the best shifter chassis. Did he say what year it is? (It's front nerf bar mounts kinda look like its a 1990's model, his "new club" probably requires one of the post-2001 style chassis that uses the modern CIK-approved style of nerf bars/side-pods)

I know you wanna mill some of your own components and all, but that $450 price for all brakes and complete rear axle isn't a bad deal... How much is shipping for just the bare frame gonna cost from the UK?

ps:
Be sure to ask him if the front frame rails have excessively worn D-shaped from scraping against the track. (that can hurt the value/handling and is definitely not considered "normal wear") Sometimes race karts have front frame rails that have completly wore through...

Your sellers ebay feedback looks pretty good

He said he just bought it a few years ago in 08 .(I dot know if that was used or new) Im not sure though .It does says CIK009 , But he says its in a catalog somewhere I should look.
Only thing I found out the frame is made for a CIK kart race championship.
I believe it was worth its money and will hold its value if it ever needs to be resold.

The translation in this link: http://translate.google.com/transla...4Q7gEwAA&prev=/search?q=Tonykart+CIK009&hl=en seems to say that series chassis model started being manufactored in 1994. (although it could be a bit newer)

You could probably contact Tonykart with the serial#'s to find out for sure.

Why are people like this read what the seller wrote me. I cant belive he would ask this of me. There is a reason ebay and paypal have these rules this guy can send me a brick and I already left him pos feedback my money would be lost.

can you let me know when you intend to pay?, i would also need some feedback before i let it go as i cant get the money from pp unless you do and i really dont want the money traped for weeks i would also need the tracking details past on to me, so its just you are in a different country you could be anyone, please see my feedback as everyone is pleased with my stuff, thanks christiaan, a phone number would also be good and you can have mine but you should already have it from sellers details

Call him up.
NO feedback until product has been received. It's ridiculous for him to expect otherwise.

Also, you say he has nothing to do with shipping. Doesn't he need to put it in a box or something? Or do the Fed X folks do that?

Ya he will box it up for me , Fedex will not take a bare frame.

I dont know why some one would think its ok to go against the rules ebay put up just put my self at jeopardy to make them happy or content.
These procedures are in place for a reason.

We talked it over were trying to come to an understanding. This is one of those deals where I wish the seller was more reasonable.
I hope to get her soon.
