"110 volts FAIL" Are you for real? What would be better for you, 3 phase 460 volts. I like it because on a cold day that first start is a pain in the @$$, Once its warm I have no problem pull starting it.;)

what would be better, lets think about this... its an electric start that you have to have a long @ss drop cord to plug into an outlet to crank an OFFROAD vehicle.

man... I dunno what I was thinking???

i second that. i hate pushing around a big heavy kart when it doesn't want to run right. in retrospect, what would 110v do to a karts coil if it happened to come in contact with the case? i've heard that you don't weld on someting that has bearings because the bearings could end up welded. seems good advice, though i have not seen one way or the other. but i have seen jumping the solenoid and installing outlets while live that blow chunks out of the screwdriver. i prefer self contained starting systems

Maybe I was not clear with what I had in mind, This would be for a go kart around my yard. You see not every one has 10+ acres to ride on. But I do have a 1 car garage That has power all over it, so I dont have to worry about pulling power from 100 ft away. And I try not to carry an extra 50 lbs around i.e. Battery

Heck, if a 110v starter works for YOU, who'm I to say no? Fact is, it's no good to me- I just finished ripping the 110v starter OFF the old 6hp Tec snowblower motor I just got.
And Mike- I've never accidently welded bearings or seen it done, but I will say this: I guarantee that bearings won't survive unscathed on some level if one were to include them in a welding circuit. For example- If one were to put the work clamp on the axle shaft, then weld, say, the pillow block housing, the bearing WILL get hurt. The current would have to pass right through the bearing, and with random and innefficient electrical gaps and conductivity, the arc would jump any gaps and cause damage. I'm not saying they'd melt solid, just damage. On the other hand if you put the clamp on the kart frame, and weld in the pillow block housing, no damage will likely be done, as the power is not forced to travel through the bearing.

And- My GX340 cold starts wonderfully, thank you, Honda!!!
