He isn't ready for a motorcycle engine.

Don't even bother with a centrifugal clutch on such a big engine, won't even be worth it.

at bmikarts there's a comet clutch with a 1" bore, i figured it might work but the belt tensioner system sounds like it would work well if someone could explain it to me.

I wouldnt do it like they did it i would have a double pully clutch because they dont slip as much.

Thats what i did on my pulling lawnmower. if you idle too long it WILL eat up belts.. puts flat spots in em. almost need another pair of sprung pulleys to keep the belt away from the drive pulley

There will be more 'messing' trying to get a clutch/TC to work with that engine than getting a motorbike engine.

Don't see what the issue is, I just unbolted mine from the bike and mounted it to the kart. No messing to speak of.

Anyway, if not a bike engine I vote for the pulley tensioner idea. The belts last a long time and can take a lot of power if you use large (r than 1 3/4" like I used) pulleys.

well the thing is model, this will be my first big o project, and I do not have a whole lot o experience with bike engines, I think i wan to get a bike and tinker with it till I am ready to put it on a frame. a different, safer frame lol. but thanks for all the help with the bts
