Which is better?

Ok so I need to buy a live axle and hub for my go cart. I was looking and there's steped axles that go from 1" to 3/4" and just 1" solid axles. Which is better?

better?? I would think that the bigger end is stronger
Just buy 1 inch axle without the step


also the step helps hold the hub on without a shaft collar

id go with the same size all the way then you dont have to be concerned with where your wheels are going to set and everything. unless youve already got 3/4 hubs
